You would'nt say that if it where your kids

I would.

I would never condone "the state" murdering anyone.

Funny comment, as you have has no restraints or compunctions about "the state" putting to death 2 Burmese boys on Koh Tao. In fact, you're encouraged it, many times.

Death penality only

Rest IN Peace Litle Angel <3

This is a horrible tragedy and my heart goes out to the families.

Please bear in mind though that it's called mental illness for a reason. This is not the dark ages.

oh yeah he sick so why they let him out last month ? kill him much better

This is a case of negligible homicide by the persons responsible for his release. If anyone should face the death penalty, it should be they.

...well what can you say ?.......unmedicated/ poorly supervised people with serious mental health issues(plus or minus drug and alcohol abuse) in incidents like these....seems to happen the world over despite for example the vigilance of western country health authorities who have far greater resources than Thailand. It is a sad loss of life

U people concerned with the welfare of the perpetrator r also mentally ill. We can't even expect u to know that criminally killing people is a mentally ill act, and society, via laws, decides what to do with such people, based on circumstances. If u want to outlaw anything u consider as cruel, then u r of the flavor of being fearful of rules in society. Why don't u live among yourselves in a society like that? See how that works for ya. U just can't see things from another's viewpoint until it happens to you. That in itself is a deficiency and it's too bad that intelligence tests at voting booths aren't required in order to vote.

Of course this is heinous but the guy has a mental illness.

Are you suggesting the death penalty is correct for mentally sick people who are convicted of such crimes?

It is certainly not going to be a deterrent and only about revenge.

Revenge you have no association with.

Absolutely, if anything, to stop them doing it again!

Sorry, don't understand your post. If you are saying that it is wrong to be concerned about the 'welfare of the mentally ill' then you misunderstand. Totally. Sickness, whether it's of the brain or of the body can happen to anyone or develop in anyone. Your mother can develop a cancer - equally she can develop a mental illness. If the latter were to happen and then she murdered someone would you propose she be put down or looked after? I agree there is a massive problem in society with those who have mental disabilities (Autism and so on) or those who have some degree of socio/psychopathy. Unfortunately people like this can attain positions of power or influence (you need to look no further than some dictators, or self-exiled would be dictators). But as a global society we should have strategies to take care of the mentally ill so that they are protected from themselves and others are protected from their rage (or whatever). It is not only in Thailand that mentally ill people have been released onto the streets (more so here than in the UK) with tragic consequences; it has happened in the UK too. But the answer is not to hang these people once they have committed their foul deed. The answer is for society to recognise mental illness and deal with it in an appropriate and caring way.

This man obviously was in hospital for schizophrenia. This is the local health care systems fault and in the end the government fault now and way before. There is mentaly sick ticking Bombs walking around out there there is no help for this people. Its a horrible horrible thing that happen but schizophrenia is a mind desice that you can not cure. only thing is to give medicine to kep the sickness in shack. It's the responsibility of the government. My thoughts goes to the poor family.

Police will probe to find the suspect's motivation.

Motivation ? He was schizophrenic, and just plain wacko. Finding out why he did it, or whether it was just the children making noise (which children do), is secondary and not important. He was a known schizophrenic. Society was let down, the children were murdered. Someone didn't do a fair assessment before letting him out.

Just one point, a person can be a schizophrenic but will never be a murderer.

Absolutely correct......and just as a person cannot cure himself of cancer....neither can a sick mind cure a sick mind.... It is hard to understand sometimes how people can accept a physical illness without any problem and have symphony for the one who has it, but when it comes to "mental illness" the person who has it is seen as evil in many cases.....most people do not choose to have an illness....the illness choses them..

May the spirits of these beautiful children be in the arms of God tonight.

I'm trying to read this and am reminded that metal illness can take many different forms. At least yours is harmless to others (apart from causing slight headaches and nausea). If your doctor gave you pills, remember to take them as prescribed.
