GLO chief resigns

BANGKOK: -- Pol MajGen Surasit Sangkhapong, director of the Government Lottery Office(GLO) has resigned , as the Office of Auditor General steps in to investigate allegation of irregularity.

The resignation will take effect Friday, Suparut Kawatkul, permanent secretary of Finance Ministry told reporters Thursday.

Surasit is a close aide of ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and he is speculated to following the coup.

Suparut said Surasit tendered his resignation Thursday and said that he wanted to find other jobs after serving at the GLO for about three years.
