6-Month Multiple Entry Visa

Recommended Posts

Hi there, this is the reply I received from the Singapore Royal Thai Embassy concerning the above visa...

" Kindly take note that the above said visa will be issued only to applicant who needs to be in the kingdom just for a short term stay and "do not stay more than

2 weeks"...then needs to transit elsewhere and re-enter again for short stays in the kingdom of Thailand and connect the flight from the country of

Thailand to their next destinations.

Anyway we still need to have all their flight information on how and when they enter Thailand as mentioned above and it is subject upon approval once

they submit their applications to us at the consular office of the visa department. "

So as I was around the thai embassy area, i poked in and spoke to a staff ( Singaporean ) that the Thai Immigration in Thailand says "can stay up to 60 days"

per entry..NO she said, besides this visa is for those who are working and need short time breaks....

No extension or back to back....they may consider the second visa only after a lapse of many months.

Well well well, I don't know whether what she said is correct......Reason or should I say excuse is because of the border visa-runners, she said.

The embassy in Singapore is certainly not the best choice for info.

I think we will have to wait until it gets closer to November 13th to get more reliable info from the MFA. The only thing so far is this press release. http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/media-center/14/60714-Thailand-launches-the-Multiple-Entry-Tourist-Visa.html

You'll most likely be able to extend each 60 day entry to 90, as with a regular tourist visa. Otherwise it'd contradict the immigration act, which says up to 90 day stay for tourism. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/doc/Immigration_Act.pdf

Most embassy websites say 'max 60 days' but neglect to finish the sentence 'after which you can extend 30 days'. The UK and Aus websites say that too.

Embassies are notoriously bad at posting info.

Also that Finland embassy requirement looks insane. Thanks for posting but surely they won't actually require employment certificates and six months of bank balances, otherwise no one would bother getting that visa, they'd just get a triple entry tourist visa instead and save the hassle. Or fly in visa-free then go to Laos.

Or maybe Finland will require all that red tape, and other countries won't. Embassies can be a law unto their own.

Agree with the extension portion.

Many websites aren't yet updated (UK, US, Oz) for the METV, but of the 2 shown here, it appears that the METV will replace the double(and triple) TR
