Police to appeal against huge compensation payout ruling
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- THE Royal Thai Police will appeal against a court ruling to pay a contractor almost Bt97 million in compensation over a project to build 396 replacement police stations.

Pol Lt-General Prawut Thavornsiri said yesterday Chiang Mai Administrative Court ruled that the RTP's cancelling of a contract in April 2013 was legitimate but ordered it to pay compensation to PCC Development and Construction Co for work already done and materials purchased for the work.

He said the RTP had doubts about the company's inventory for the materials and would lodge an appeal within 30 days and may also appeal against the compensation figure, which he labelled too high. He said police had not lost the case because the court had only ordered it to pay partial compensation.

Wouldn't it be logical to take a long, hard look at those responsible for the bidding and procurement processes, their connections and bank accounts?

Well said, that would be the "logical" approach, therefore it will never happen ;-)

So have the half built, never started, Police stations been abandoned

to add to other corrupt projects, like the water treatment plant, fields

of slowly rotting fire engines.the waste of tax payers money is really

horrendous.,

It could be if the bidding and procurement processes were the unmentioned reason for cancelling the contract.

The contractor should appeal against the RTP reward monies.

That actually seems like a good deal...

Considering Compared to other deals like the guy who charged tens of millions for a few digital clocks to the houses of parliament ....

"He said police had not lost the case because the court had only ordered it to pay partial compensation."

So they only half lost the case and the contractor half won it? Half witted statement or translation.

250,000 baht per police station is too high?? clap2.gif

An order to pay a contractor almost Bt97 million in compensation doesn't sound like a win to me.

But if the police do think it's not, please send me Bt10 million so I can lose too.

You asketh for to much and it could raise some red flags and then there would be a flurry of brown envelopes all around. You use the word logical. Since living here for a number of years this word has disappeared from my vocabulary.

These are all examples of how a corrupt country exploit the poor and the taxpayer so that the select few can enrich themselves. And what's worse is the people say it's ok. They don't mind, because they think they too can steal a bit for themselves sometime. How utterly insane that a nation can exist with such a mindset. Think of the potential for this country if they were intelligent and used the countries financial resources to build a better future. Singapore did it and they are now a country to idolize. But Thailand it seems is a nest of selfish thieves. How truly sad.

It's only logical if you are not part of the money trail ... My guess would be that so many people

on so many levels are involved, that nobody dares to check anything ....

luudee

They, THai police are, as usual, ( expletive removed ), wrong but by filing numerous delaying tactics/continuances believe the offended party will give up or die, ( whichever comes first ), or the revered " Court" will in

the absense of complaintants( all dead), close the case !

Crazy thing is UNTIL this court case is finished with. No one can actually finish the work, which was presumably so important in the first place!!!
