BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered that information packages be put together so as to create a better understanding of Thailand's situation among the international community, Government Spokesperson Sansern Kaewkamnerd said on Tuesday.

"Clear and detailed information should be presented so as to explain the reasons and circumstances that led to the current government and the National Council for Peace and Order [NCPO] stepping in," Sansern quoted the prime minister as saying during the Cabinet meeting.

The PM's order comes after he attended the recent 70th United Nations General Assembly, Sansern said. Prayut found that the international community still had a blurred understanding of the country, especially the situation before the NCPO took over the reins of power last year.

This unclear understanding also seemed to reflect in other issues, such as Thailand's aviation standard being degraded by the International Civil Aviation Organization and the European Union's warning to the country's fishery industries over illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.

The information package will also explain details of the government's policies to alleviate the plight of agriculturists and people with low income, Sansern said.

Thank you, dear Junta Leader, but you explained this to Farangs 10 times already. If we didn't understand previously, we'll not understand better this time. The point is that we are not that stupid and we understand perfectly: human is human everywhere on this planet. You can explain and explain again, it will not change our opinion.

NEW YORK: -- On the eve of his return from the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 70) in New York, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said Thursday that the international community had shown confidence in Thailand on the global stage.

The question is, the information pack is it proper gander or is it total delusion. The truth as believed by the Junta and those who support them.

Reports indicate this directive followed Prayuth's visit to the UN where he was stunned to realise that international leaders did not understand the reasons for the coup and did not see him as a heroic figure delivering the Thai people from chaos.

He sees this largely as a failure of communication by overseas based Thai diplomats. We can therefore expect much more resources ploughed into propaganda, expensive PR firms hired and probably a shake up among Ambassadors.

It seems not to have occurred to him that overseas leader perceive the situation correctly. They are not going to humiliate him because Thailand is regarded as a friend. There will be polite but firm encouragement to restore democracy and hold elections.Given the context there will also be concern expressed that any constitution should be fair and transparent.

I thought the international community already understood everything in Thailand.

Yes, that's certainly the official angle and they fully support what the govt's doing, the road map etc.

What he and his mates need to do is get on with the job they decided to do with no mandate and get things done in order that democracy can be restored at the earliest opportunity. Wasting time and money trying to convince the world that they 'don't understand' Thailand will never achieve anything !

unclear understanding???

WHAT IS UNCLEAR? The Burmese slaves on the boats are actually happy to be beaten and killed by the Thai crew or what?

It doesn't matter what kind of spiel you place on it , the fact still remains that the Military deposed an Elected government , regardless under what circumstances and as I mentioned to other day , Thailand has been around for a few centuries , so instead of being a learner Thailand should be a leader in Democracy , your constitution should have been such that any disputes could be sorted by a well thought out constitution plan, instead Thailand got a Junta and using forceful methods isn't endearing you to anyone and to make matters worse the longer you stay there the less likely the population will continue to support you , BKK polls excluded.coffee1.gif

My 'blurred understanding' is that, in other words, he has failed (not unsurprisingly) to convince the UN that he is not some petty little dictator.

On the Burmese slaves someone could argue that it is just a few cases and no one knew about it.....it is not true, but it could be a good argument.

But take aviation standard: it is not hidden somewhere on the open sea, it is just in Bangkok and you could just call some foreign specialist to fix it within a very short time frame.

He's so far in the bubble that he thinks he can appeal to the elites in western countries, not knowing that they find military dictatorships noxious. It also could be he genuinely believes what he is doing, I think not, but it is a possibility.

Page 6: We're not bothered, but he DID shake hands with Obama, right? Yes? Yes? He did, definitely, OK? Clear? Not a big deal at all, but no question about it, they shook hands, yes siree they shook hands and what a handshake it was! So to recap...
