petedk
This "gateway" is "is now being renovated to increase annual passenger capacity from 6.5 million to 12.5." What will do they do about the single Internet gateway? Joke aside. What exactly do they mean by "gateway to andaman"? Is it simply increasing the number of incoming passengers to Phuket. "What exactly do they mean by "gateway to andaman?" - they mean, cheap flights, from all around the world, into Phuket Airport, as an entry point into Thailand, and then you get connecting transport, whether that be car, boat or plane, off the island of Phuket, but you are counted as tourists number to Phuket. Jimi007
I think they mean; more "quality tourists" departing the airport on unsafe tour buses!
Jimlove
More likely " Gateway to Hell " ....
Stargeezr
The Phuket airport needs a second runway to be a safe place for such an increase in their travellers. Not sure how they would go about doing this, but if there is ever a crash now, the place would be a disaster.
