30 day exemption

Featured Replies

Hi, i arrive in Thailand on the 5th December from Manchester and was planning on visiting Cambodia/Vietnam by bus in the new year. I will fly back to Bangkok on the 8th and will fly back to Manchester on the 15th.

Just wondering if i will be allowed another 30 day exemption or whether i will have to buy the 60 day multple entry visa. Or if i didnt have the visa would i face trouble on arrival with my flight home not untill after the 30 days.

As you will be flying into Bangkok you should have no problem whatsoever obtaining another 30 day visa exemption.

You may be denied boarding at Manchester though as you don't have proof of onward travel within the initial 30 day period.

You could obtain a single entry tourist visa in the UK before leaving for Thailand and obtain a single re entry permit before traveling to Cambodia and Vietnam, that will eradicate any hassles you could otherwise encounter.

A single entry tourist visa will give you 60 days and the re entry permit will keep your permission to stay active upon your return to Thailand.

Single entry tourist visa is £25

And a single re entry permit is 1000 baht meaning the complete outlay is only around £45 quid.

You will have no problem getting another visa exempt entry when you return from Cambodia..

If you changed your travel plans for Cambodia by flying in and returning by bus that would take care of the need for a ticket out of the country within 30 days. There will be no problem to enter overland form Cambodia and getting a 30 day (G7 country rule) visa exempt entry.

was planning on visiting Cambodia/Vietnam by bus in the new year.

Just a reminder:

Sunday, 3rd of January will be the latest date to leave for Cambodia.

This will be a VERY busy traveling time (end of the long new year weekend).

If you have proof of travel to Cambodia (?) the airline has no right to deny boarding.

Though this might be difficult for bus travel.

As pointed out your problem is not having an outbound flight within 30 days of arriving in Bangkok and the possibility of being denied boarding in Manchester.

Your best option is to get a double entry tourist visa.
