At first the most stupid one is the responsible Journalist at the newspaper!

And after this the police with this action that happens once in a while and don't change anything in the prostitution business - and that's what Pattaya is: and why many tourists come to visit the biggest whorehouse in this world!!!!!!!!!!

Its the monthly cleanup , nothing new here .

The RTP always rounds up 50. The magic number.

Maybe if they had bank accounts they (the usual suspects) could set up monthly direct debits to the RTP. It might save a bit of time in the long run.

Pathetic Amazing Thailand

To clean up the cities image wow, methinks it would take a japanese type tsunami. .Cleaning up Beach road at 2am for half an hour of its human flotsam will just not cut it, also what about the BIB losing sleep for a lousy 10.000 baht, poor guys.

The headline Say's ladyboys but the artical states including transgender women, so really they rounded up sex workers on the beach, but singled out the ladyboys.

Maybe its more of a attention grabbing headline with the mention of ladyboys.

The LBs weren't singled out, the women were fined also.

huh

The title of the article us "Pattaya Ladyboys Fined 100 Baht".

How Is that not singling out ladyboys?

I am going to assume you dont command the English language and give you the benefit of doubt here.

Oh my head hurts....

100B... not a lot.

How many 20B notes do these ladies get a day just to pacify them...

Remember years ago, a friend who was a solicitor pointed out that fining Prostitutes, Buskers, etc. was just counter productive as they had only one way to make the money to pay the fine.

The same could be said for fining thieves, politicians and preachers; not to mention lawyers.

"...fined 100 baht for loitering in public and suspicion of engaging in prostitution."

Very interesting. I wonder how great a leap it would be for the police to begin arresting and fining members of this forum for suspicion of engaging in insurrection by communicating with each other in a secret code that police and government officials are not privy to. I mean, of course, the English language.

When being suspect is a crime, everybody is a criminal.

Pattaya “Coconut Bar” shutdown by Pattaya Police

beach-2.jpg?resize=610%2C393

PATTAYA: -- Pattaya’s Coconut Bar, otherwise known as Pattaya Beach Road, was raided by Police in the early hours of Monday and over 50 suspected male and female Prostitutes were arrested.

It has been some time since such an operation has taken place and is part of an ongoing plan by Pattaya Police to assist in portraying Pattaya as a safe family resort.

Thai Law only allows for each of the detainees to be fined the sum of 100 Baht as they could only be charged with the minor offence of loitering.

If the fine were too much, it might actually discourage them, and that might put a dent in the monthly brown envelope collections. Nope - the idea is only to dupe the public into thinking something is being done (the public tends to get strangely peeved at the continual pick-pocketing, purse-snatching & violent assaults...and it makes for bad press) while still letting the, em, "clientele"... know that protection must still be paid for.

The thai narrative is that all these people are only working to support family…so there is a fair bit of sympathy for them….cops just do this whenever they need a headline.

Rubbish, that is not a "Thai narrative", it is the lonely, loser farangs that have sympathy for lazy prostitutes. Wise up :Holmes jn."

Amazing Pattaya.

They should just leave them all alone. wai2.gif

what's the difference bar or beach road. this City was built on this trade and continues to grow on it.

fine by me thumbsup.gif

If they are hassling people that's different, nick the ones doing that ( LBs I would say )

and give the appropriate fine. ( 100 baht is just silly) coffee1.gif

As we all know..prostitution is illegal in Pattaya facepalm.gif

Pattaya is already a family destination , kids get educated in the sex industry by just walking down beach road at night, something to talk about with their friends back in school.

20 years later they'll be back in Pattaya to practice what they learned..

......cleaning up the citys image???

What ?

Pattaya relies almost entirely on prostitution to survive.

Get rid of all the hookers and there is nothing left except a few 7/11's and a filthy beach.
