Two visits to CW

Featured Replies

My wife and I went to get our annual retirement extensions and re-entry permits at CW yesterday. Despite getting up at the crack of dawn, there was a sizable queue when we got to CW. Unfortunately, we live in an area that is not very convenient for the BTS, MRT or expressway, so unless we camp out at CW overnight, I don't really see how we could get there much earlier than we did.

Anyway, by the time we were issued with our retirement extensions, the counter where we had to collect the queue number tickets had closed. As many will know, they have stopped issuing queue tickets at 3.30pm since September 1st 2015. This meant that we couldn't get our re-entry permits, so another visit to CW has to be scheduled. I know that we can get them at the airport, but that is not an option I feel comfortable relying on.

When it was approaching 3.30pm, I tried to get a queue number from the counter for the re-entry permit section, but they would not give me one without the new retirement extension. I even tried to persuade the re-entry permit section officer to issue me a re-entry permit when I got my retirement extension, but without success.

I hope that I was just unlucky this time with the amount of people waiting for an extension, but I have a feeling that I will have to allow for two visits to CW in the future; one for my extension, and a second for a re-entry permit.

Get comfortable with obtaining at airport. Very simple easy process.
