NACC's 2010 crackdown report expected this year

The National Anti-Corruption Commission expects to wrap up its investigation into the 2010 deadly crackdown on red shirt demonstrators before the terms of some of its commissioners - including its chairman - end at the end of the year.

The investigation has been directed at Abhisit Vejjajiva, the prime minister at the time, his then deputy Suthep Thaugsuban and a then director of the Centre for Resolutions of Emergency Situation.

They are alleged to have been responsible for the crackdown order being issued.

NACC commissioner Vicha Mahakhun said all the witnesses in the probe had testified and the anti-graft agency was now only waiting for additional documents from the Department of Special Investigation.

NACC chair Panthep Klanarongran said the investigating fact-finding committee would submit its report for the principal NACC committee to determine if any wrongdoing took place.

What is the point of these lengthy drawn out cases? All that ever happens to the guilty, is a punitive fine, or a suspended prison sentence.coffee1.gif

Yeh right. I can just see the junta appointed NACC taking down the PM's anarchy adviser, the mad monk.

The NAAC will blame the demonstrators for the injuries and deaths. If only Abhisit had Prayut's Article 44 to deter public demonstrations, there would have been no demonstrations and no conflict. If only the military had control of the government, there would have been no demostrations.

Thanks to Prayut for showing Thailand the way to a peaceful and submissive society. wai2.gif

Yes, thanks to the PM for keeping the population stupid, submissive, poor and without any hope to improve their quality of life. The land of "I'm ok, stuff everybody else".
