Retirement visa from the U.K.

Featured Replies

Is it still possible to get a retirement visa from the U.K. I have the money needed so that's no problem.

I am 53 and seem to recall reading on here that the U.K wont give the visa unless you are 65. Do I recall correctly ?

P.s. I know its not a retirement visa but its so much easier to call it that.

For a non immigrant o,o/a visa based on retirement you only need to be 50 years of age but have to satisfy the financial requirements.

  • You can get a non immigrant 'O-A'.

It's a multi entry visa valid for 1 year.

Each entry gives a 1 year stay.

Entry just before the visa expires at the end of the first year also gives a 1 year stay and means the visa can give nearly 2 years before needing a new visa or applying for an extension of stay.

You can apply for an O/A (long stay) visa or you may be able to secure a single entry non"O" visa from one of the Consulates.

The single entry visa can be used to apply for an extension of stay at a Thai immigration office but you would need 800K Bht in a Thai bank or a monthly income (certified by the British Embassy of 65k.

If you are talking about the one year year multiple entry visa that is only available to those in receipt of a State OAP.
