Mystery machine on top floor - whining for 17 seconds, shutting 4 s off

Featured Replies

They put this machine on the roof. It's a huge metal box, suspect it might be a water pump?

Haven't encountered this anywhere. The noise is loud and goes on 24/7.

Was on holidays for weeks and upon my return, this noise was there.

This is affecting quality of life.

Does anyone have an idea what this machine is, if it's not a pump?

Cheers,

Chris

You need to check whether it has any cables or other hoses going in or out the machine, and see

it there is any labeling on it that sometime can be a clue, or simply ask the right people what

is this contraption...

However, one thing for sure, it can't be my wife though, she whines for a lot longer than 17 seconds

and almost never shut off....

Going by the excellent description that you provided my guess would be that it's a metal box.

A picture maybe of some assistance.

Otherwise it's a complete guessing game.

Could be numerous things as mentioned,a pump, air handling unit, air compressor.

I'm going to go with a water pump in a metal box, either that or a Volton Death Ray.

Water pressure pump. My neighbour has one it continuously turns on and off 24/7
