BANGKOK: -- Charter drafter spokesman Norachit Sinhaseni met with more than 50 diplomats and representatives of international organisations on Monday to update them on the Constitution writing progress.

Among the attendees of the 40-minute meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were seven ambassadors and two charges d'affaires, the spokesman reported.

He also noted that he had informed the envoys of how and why the Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) had taken office as well as what they had been doing in their first two weeks of work.

The press was not allowed to observe the meeting. However, Norachit later said that the only question asked in the forum was when the people could see the charter to which he replied that the first draft would be published in January. After that, CDC would gather comments and revisit the draft accordingly and appropriately, he added.

The diplomats and international officials hadn't raised any other concerns, he added.

Asked if the envoys had enquired about a referendum or how CDC would proceed if the draft were to be rejected, Norachit said drafters hadn't yet discussed this issue.

Norachit added that no further meeting with the international agencies had been scheduled but one would be arranged when appropriate.

"Thank you all for coming today. We are doing our best to come up with a new Charter for the Elites and Military so they can always take control without the use of tanks and guns whenever they feel like it. We are looking at all possible options, and will select those we feel are best, and then do our damnedest to cram it down the throats of our buffaloes, errrr, "citizens". Have a nice day, and remind your citizens to come, spend lots of money, then get the hell out."

More than 50 diplomats attended a 40 minute meeting, and there was only one question, i.e. when can we read it?.

Thai interpretation: Only one question was asked. Other countries fully understand and support our Charter drafting process!

Alternative interpretation: Attendees were skeptical and unimpressed and just want to see the first draft.

Why should the International community want an update on the constitution when they only have to check out TV Forum , every man and he's dog knows what is going on , the only problem that exists is what is going to happen if it is rejected again, no one has thought about this as yet , I'll bet. coffee1.gif

Actually, I have, and in my opinion, for what it's worth, I think they are counting on it being rejected - again. Then they can say: "Ohh, gee, we have to stay in power till we get it right."

7 ambassadors + 2 charges d'affaires = 50 diplomats and representatives?

Some third world countries no doubt as the West sees through their bs charter. Just more propaganda for the masses to show Thailand isn't isolated.

There are 76 embassies in Bangkok vs. 7 ambassadors who attended.

It would be news to know which did not attend or did not send a high-level representative.

BANGKOK: -- DIPLOMATS and international organisations raised no concerns about the new round of charter drafting at a meeting yesterday with the Constitution Drafting Commission, CDC spokesman Norachit Sinhaseni said.

Envoys from seven countries - Argentina, Brazil, Panama, Pakistan, Slovakia, Norway and Spain - attended the forum along with representatives of international organisations, such as the United Nations. More than 50 people attended in total.

The forum lasted about 40 minutes and took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

They were briefed about why the CDC was set up and told about the progress of its work during the first two weeks, which Norachit said was in line with Article 35 of the interim charter and the five-point framework of the National Council for Peace and Order.

The diplomats and officials were also given documents during the briefing so they could gain a better understanding of the process and see the situation accurately. Norachit explained to the visitors that Thailand would stick with its road map despite the fact that the draft written by the Borwornsak Uwanno committee was rejected.

Asked if the envoys had inquired how the CDC would proceed if the latest draft round was rejected, Norachit said "no".

The spokesman said the only question asked during the forum was when the charter would be ready for people to see.

He had replied that the first draft would be publicised in January. After that, the CDC would gather comments and might revisit the draft accordingly, he added.

The spokesman also said no further meeting with international organisations has not been scheduled, but would be arranged when appropriate.

The charter was already there for god sakes... It just did not suit the Army and it's PM

THE PRIORITY IS THE PEOPLES CHANCE TO VOTE !

Charter does not take 6 months. In fact 1 month all done.. Thailand do not launch space shuttles. Is not that complicated

The people will read this new charter anyway including the next PM

THE TRUTH COMES OUT IN THE WASH
