Thai Tourist Visa Report - Savannakhet / Mukdahan

Recommended Posts

Jesus I love that type of food and eating in a semi open place. Can't wait for the upcoming holiday

semi open place, you mean the hotel or the place I had the thai food? I love this hotel because it is so quiet and it is wooden, no concrete jungle style places. When do you plan to come here and have you been before? Best visa run I have ever done and I have been to malaysia, Ranong and Vientiane. I also have a few more pics, one sec... My all time fav dish ever since I came here 5 years ago, gang know wan

Nice dinner along the Mekong.

The room make you want to hang yourself though, but the outside balcony is nice.

A bit cheap on the rice with Gen kiaw Wan. lol

lol what do you mean about the room, the price?? It was ok, I prefer the location. The bed was so comfortable and it is such a chilled and relaxed establishment. The rice for the geng was at the Lao House tourist attraction, was delicious though .. sep sep

And cheap Beer Lao too - got to love Laos!

Beer Lao over any commercial Thai beer any day! I have tried back and standard beer lao before, but first time I had seen the gold lao this time around. Still prefer the black though.

I do hope this thread helps others who need to do a visa run though because this was a breeze compared to what I have experienced in the past wink.png

the pic of the beer-lao and the sandwitch, were was it taken?

That was at Lao Hose, I think I linked it in the OP. It is after the consulate on the right before the round about and before the Casio. Very good value service and atmosphere; actually I have been there every day since being here lol

it just looked depressing: the bare white walls, the cheezy curtain, the tacky iron bed, the horrible neon lightning...

Hello, very good and helpful post !!
I am in exactly the same situation also in Hua Hin :)

I have 2 questions :

- what did you do to cancel your ED visa ? does ambassy in Lao asked for any documents about cancellation ?
- I heard that i have to stay 3 days in Lao before apply for new visa, apparently that's not the case, can you confirm ?

Thanks again

I am on AIS too and it did work for a couple of days but then I switched to their wifi which is mostly fine. The rooms are good tbh, all have air con, comfortable beds, really friendly service and it is such a quite atmosphere which I like the most about a hotel. Room downstairs on the right are 500, 600 on the left and up the top 700

Hey

Just go to your school and say you need to cancel your ED visa and they will make a form for you, check the passport number and your name on the form. take that plus 2 passport pics that is all. You do not need to stay in Laos for 3 days, just turn up on time at 8.30 at the consulate mon - fri )opens at 9) and then go back the next day to get your vis. Good luck

It has 3 places next to each other, one is for coffee, the other for food and whatever, the other for many unique items to buy, it's all good. ENJOY

sorry, one more question, i downloaded the form for on the website and i can't see where to mention that it is for a double entry, do i have to tell them at the office ?
And also, how long could i stay in thailand with double entry ? 6 month is possible (60 days visa + one month extension and do it again for second entry)?
Sorry for all these questions, but i never did it before. I read many thing on this website but it makes me confused sad.png

PS : I have to do that because i move in a city that has no school ...

Not sure what "moving in a city with no school" has to do with visa issues !

On the application form simply write "double entry" or " 2 entries"

The first entry allows a 60 day stay which can be extended by 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 Bht.

To activate the second entry requires leaving the country , entering another country and returning BEFORE the "enter before date" which is clearly marked on the visa.

lol no need for sorrys.. I did not even download the form and people rarely do. Right next to the consulate there is a stall that has a photoshopy machine for passports and also forms to fill out, they help too if you need it for free. I forgot now but somewhere near the top you need to tick tourist visa 60 days x2 .. multiple entry. They will help don't worry. It is such a lax consulate.

You get 60 days and then in the town you stay in Thai you can apply for a 30 day extension for 1,900 baht, then it the double entry you do the same process again. Hope this helps, the consulate in

Savannakhet

is the best I have ever been to.. goodluck

For the record, the casino is named Savan Vegas and the hotel rooms are quite comfortable, and when you check in they give you vouchers for the hotel buffet so all your meals are included in the cost of the room. A Thai guy named Dean runs the front desk and rooms division. He is from Khon Kaen originally and very helpful. There are a couple of overnight buses from Mochit in Bangkok to Mukdahan, Sahapan Tour 029363690 and Bus 999 028721777. From the Mukdahan bus station you can catch a Tuk Tuk or look a Savan Vegas van at about 7 am. You should actually call Savan Vegas and reserve in advance so they are certain to be looking for you at the bus station. Even if you miss the Savan Vegas van, they have a hospitality center on the left at the entrance to the immigration area before crossing the bridge. The folks there will fill out your immigration forms and put you in a shuttle and escort you through the border and immigration and take you all the way to the casino hotel.

There is also a 5 am morning bus from Khon Kaen that waits at immigration and then takes you all the way to the Savanakhet bus station. This is a good way to go if they go back to same day visa processing at the Thai consulate.
