PHATUM THANI:-- An Indian man has been found dead at a Phatum Thani language school.

Rajesh Singh, 37, was discovered by a maid on Tuesday morning hanging from a staircase inside the Smith English School of Languages, located in the Passorn housing estate in Prachathipat.

Police who attended the scene found a note believed to have been written by Mr Singh in which he talked about longstanding financial problems, reports ThaiRath.

The maid who found Mr Singh told police he part owned the language school, which had been open for approximately five years.

Police have sent Mr Singh’s body for postmortem at Thammasat University Hospital and also revealed they wish to speak to Mr Singh’s business partners as part of the investigation into his death.

English school owner, not teacher.

A teacher can walk away from his/her problems. A school owner with debts and obligations doesn't normally have that option.

RIP

Like pods of whales who mysteriously beach them self to death, so many foreigners who comes to Thailand with a tingle in the eyes and promises of good times, sadly, some of them found that Thailand is not nirvana, lose their ways owing to a whole host of problems and taking this awful but easy way out....

An owner has it a lot better than a teacher, in general, since they are their own boss and usually make more money... even if they 'may' have a higher work load.

I have far more sympathy for teachers than owners as their are a majority of exploitative owners out there.

Anybody can walk away from their problems if they have legs that work. It's a choice.

Never heard that term before, whales beaching themselves to death ! You learn something every day.

Sad to hear of yet another suicide in the Land of Suicides (actually it is ranked about 57th on the list of countries with the most cases per capita)

I am surprised the crack sleuths from Sukhumvit Yard have not yet popped in with their claims of murder.

RIP to the poor guy who died.

What a shame.

Should I die here in Thailand, I sincerely hope the details aren't posted up on this site with the usual crass comments following. The dead deserve some dignity.

Being (unpleasantly) pragmatic about it, if the business was in trouble before this, it's finished now because no Thai would want to study there or even enter the building except for fleeting morbid curiosity.

Goodness me easybullet3, I am thinking the above poster is most positively attempting to extract the urine.

yup. I realize that now! Lol

I realy thought it was a real suicide note. hence my critical reply.

I am not commenting on this guy personally, but i think greed and naivety are also to blame.

They visit here, discover that labour is dirt cheap, and with lax policing (pay a few small bribes) can run a business under the radar and "make a fortune".

You see it day in day out. People buying into bars, farms, real estate business, on and on.

they all loose their shirt eventually and usually the Thai who talk them into this great deal..will sail away with the money.

i always say..exploiting Thai people for cheap labour is a profession only allowed for Thais.

you think they gonna let you in here and make money off em?

I think the money is the secondary issue.

It seems having to go back to your own country is a fate worse than death for some who stay here

Hard to fathom, but yes, very sad

If he wanted dignity he would not have "Hung Himself." Lets simply call it "selfdetermination." He could have returned to his homeland I suppose if he had not burnt all his bridges there already no doubt. End of the line for loads of folks just like him.

Too late for a group hug I suppose?

...seem s like some people revel in reporting terrible details.

..but not of the locals....

...always a neat and tidy excuse for the locals....even when they kill a policeman in a parked car.

...or run one over and drag him a kilometer...

...as foreigners...many Indians I have met have a very hard go of it here too....

...after all...we have a special name...as do the Indians....

....I doubt this peson 'went it alone'...and again I have to stress....please investigate....

...the neighbor...the cleaner 'said'....

...and it's in headlines...like some proven fact....or like the story that someone wants us to buy....

...first question anyone has to ask....is there someone that stands to gain from this....

...ignore that...then it is really hopeless for foreigners here...

Hanging himself there is probably not going to be too good for business.

Sounds like you've never owned a business. It isn't so easy to walk away from something into which you have funneled all your assets and sweat equity.

Smith School of Languages was alleged to be operating a visa mill under the guise of teaching Thai. They made me all sorts of promises but didn't fulfil them.

I can see how this guy could have been let down.

Wonder if that was deliberate on his part. Getting back at his partners perhaps?

You obviously have no idea the stresses involved being a business owner, especially if you've taken out loans to build your business. You're always worrying if there's going to be enough business and always spending money to bring in new business. Collecting a paycheck is easy and not nearly as stressful as running a business.
