Thai Police to give 600,000 Baht to family of traffic police who died in an accident

BANGKOK, 22 October 2015 (NNT) - The Royal Thai Police will give 600,000 Baht to the family of a traffic policeman who recently lost his life in a motorcycle accident.

Pol Gen Prawut Thavornsiri, the spokesperson of the Royal Thai Police, attended the royal bathing rite of Pol Lt Narongrit Naksuk, Sub Inspector for traffic at the Yannawa Police Station, who lost his life to a hit-and-run motorist on October 20 while he was riding his motorcycle down the Lat Phrao flyover.

Pol Gen Prawut affirmed the Royal Thai Police’s pledge of 600,000 Baht for the family of Pol Lt Narongrit and will consider enlisting Pol Lt Narongrit’s son into the Royal Thai Police.

The spokesperson also revealed that the local police are currently examining surveillance footage of the accident scene to determine the person at fault.

Preliminary evidence, however, revealed no sign of impact on Pol Lt Narongrit’s vehicle. While the motorist behind Pol Lt Narongrit did hit the deceased, the police are currently interrogating the person to determine whether a case should be made.

Perhaps if the Thai police effectively enforced drunken driving and other motor vehicle safety regulations there would be one more live policeman and 600,000 more baht in their budget.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / T V / videos are needed . as damage is all ready done with too many incompetent drivers who would fail a proper driving test, So educating through the Tv, with small clips of whats right and wrong, would not cost that much to make , driving around for 30 minutes you would have plenty of mistakes being done, failure to indicate, cutting corners, indicate right but decide to go left, U turn where signposted not allowed, the list goes on , keeping left to allow the flow of trrafic instead of being bloody minded and sit in the right lane at 60km an hour ( a personal hate / practise that is done every day here),

Jaltsc is very close to the truth , COSTS associated with all the deaths maiming and compensation to the country are huge proportions, let alone the tragedy of family pain from lost ones.

And where dies the 600,000 cone from? And to H. with thousands of other citizens who met similar deaths? Don't see anyone handing out 100,000's to them.

I can see the justification in doing this if he was killed whilst on duty. In other countries the police are basically on duty 24/7 whether working or not so i believe this is fair. Rewarding themselves, well that does not seem right, but helping out a deceased policemans family I think is ok. The family would have enough on their plate so this little bit of money will take away some of their worries. I would also hope that the RTP have some sort of life assurance for their members too so the grieving family can get on with their lives.

My wife got robbed then when the police paid her 150,000 and posted the cop down south 4 killing her father while driving rotten drunk.

And no enlistment offered for brothers.

Worth more dead than alive. Nepotism is alive in Thailand, lets give the son a job.

I thought all RT Police automatically had a 1M THB life insurance as part of their pay package.

The family of a close acquaintance with the Marine Police told me many years ago that he was insured for 1M THB. But many of the officers take loans out against the policy to pay for the uniforms (work and dress) and all the equipment (including weapons) they're expected to have to do the job. When this acquaintance was given a promotion he even had to purchase his own rank insignia.

When he died of liver failure this year (too much drink and Koi Pla in an earlier life), the family is finding out there won't be much coming to them after all the loans against the policy are settled.
