For a TV , is it true that you now actually have to make a new notification of residence EVERY time you re enter Thailand ?

I never had to do this before. But i was told today that it is the case. Which seems kind of crazy. Is it not only for work permits or something that have to do that? As it means some TV users will have to be notifying their residence several times just for an extension of stay?

I had mixed responses from whether you actually need to do this. So just wanted to check if anyone else has been told this/ has to do this...?

You report your address using the TM6 arrival card. That's all you need to do.

Someone (probably not you) is supposed to notify that you are staying at their property within 24 hours of arriving at each property.

I didn't have an arrival card today , only a departure card.

They usually give you a small rectangle receipt which is the notification of residence. I had one already but they said it was "old" and no good and that I'm supposed to give them the papers for a new notification of residence every time I re enter within 24 hours. At least that's what I'm pretty sure they were saying ... Both the immigration lady and the Royal Thai police in same building said that. They discarded my old one. Just doesn't make sense to me now still ... Am I going wrong somewhere ?

They said I need to bring several documents. Signed ID card of owner where I stay (apartment) and also have him fill the form out for me that they gave me. Looks long winded. BUT they're saying I have to do that Every damn time I re enter?! That's gonna be a big burden for the owner of apartment lol.....

If you stay in an apartment then your landlord/owner should complete a TM30 form and submit it to the local immigration office. Yes, technically it should be done every time you re-enter the country.

You had both. The immigration officer would have kept the arrival card, with your address on it, when you entered through passport control.

Yup.... Can I ask your opinion. What's my best (easiest) option here for future reference? Copy loads of those blank notification of residence forms and give them to landlord to sign and send to immigration every time I arrive again (is this even possible? Immigration tell me IM the one who needs to bring that form didn't say anything about him.) or copy his filled out form and his Signed ID card and just take it in myself after every re entry ... I guess the latter as I've not been told any land lord should be doing that for me ?! And let's say he did I bet that immigration office could never link it with me it's a mess total nightmare all over the place. Try just seem to want me to hand over all the documents at once. They couldn't provably trace anything to me sent to them lol.

But what's the point if they don't use that arrival card information to benefit me or use it amongst themselves ! Lol. Just seems all so so backward

Backward ???

You could write any garbage on the arrival card .

Now prove you actually took up residence in the place you claimed to be going.

Seems pretty smart to me.

Yes. But what doesn't seem smart is making someone on a TV go to immigration to notify their residence with an already filled out tm30 form (or whatever it's called) and a copy of landlords ID signed EVERY time you re enter the country. So if you don't know, every two months for TV users ...

Someone "on a TV" is not required to submit a TM30.

Someone seeking an extension of stay may be required to do so.

Sorry. That's what I mean. Someone on a TV requesting an extension of stay.

Do people using 6 month TVs usually bother with extensions ? Is it worth it or better to just do run instead?

No changes to 90 day reporting. It is still 90 days from when you enter the country.

This is about a TM30 being done.

Well if they are worried about people writing garbage on it, why have the address on the entry card??

For a country that relies on tourism so much, there are some absolutely stupid rules with the immigration policy
