Irish trash , if he want to sell drugs do it in Ireland. At least he will get a decent meal in prison there. Now his life will be like hell for a long time.

Geez relax Balo....it's weed not stinking Meth or such!.

Weed....a drug that is legal in many countries now and there will be more. I don't partake but to possibly give a young guy 50 years for weed is not justice.

There are far, far worse things in Thailand that do deserve those 50 years behind bars.

Do we mention the cop killers, the Kho Tao debacle, the Phuket scams, the police corruption, the defunct legal system, etc, etc, etc.

I am not saying he gets off.

No. Take down a stupid young man selling weed. Nice one guys.

I think we're forgetting the countries that have legalized it have mostly been cannabis oils and the like.

AFAIK it's still illegal to push it in this way in any country in the planet.....

Let's keep the perspective and let's not forget why this stuff was criminalized. So it could not compete with the most succesful and most dangerous drug in the world. Alcohol. Big Alca if we can call it that, shut down that competition, when young people started to smoke a free growing weed instead of getting pissed. (drunk)

The whole idea of passing these laws as good for our health is utter crap.

Exactly, and part of their advertising campaign they played on people's conservative prejudices, suggesting it was 'sent from hell', would make women promiscuous, or that blacks would end up sleeping with decent white women.

They're still doing it today just a little more intelligently.

Gateway drug, proven facts. Roflmao. Funny Mr. Anslinger. I haven't laughed that hard since I watched Reefer madness.

Post a link to this story, and tell us who financed it because most of not all of the studies are bankrolled by governments or companies with a financial incentive to promulgate lies about cannabis to keep it illegal. It's usually liquor companies, pharmaceutical companies, for-profit prisons, prison guard unions and LEO that secretly fund these studies.

In states where cannabis was legalized for medical use, deaths by prescription opiate overdoses are down over 25%. You know why? Prescription sales of narcotic analgesics are down. Do you think pharmaceutical companies are happy about that? No, that's why they are contributing to anti MJ candidates.

The reason facts about med MJ were brought up and the fact that even a DEA judge once said that cannabis is one of the safest therapeutically active substances is to show that a long prison term for selling something safer than beer is wrong and needs to be changed.

Just this week a reputable study showed that driving stoned was no more dangerous than driving sober. Another study just released showed that thc protects the brain from damage in Altzheimers.

Maybe some people should use cannabis, don't use it then. Most of my friends have smoked since high school and many are doctors and lawyers, PhD's, educators and CEO's of companies they started themselves. One has 12 employees and does 4M euros a year in sales, another started a company in Canada less than a year ago, has 6 employees and is already doing almost $1M CAD in turnover. I don't see any evidence of lower IQ, psychosis, loss of concentration, memory loss. One of my best friends smokes about 5 grams a day for chronic back pain so he doesn't have to use opiates. He has a PhD in psychology and is a tenured professor and head of the department. He smokes during breaks and at lunch, has a memory like a computer and one of the smartest people I've met.

I also have friends who have cured skin cancer and prostate cancer using cannabis.

I doubt there is anything you could read that would change your mind. You seem like someone whose mind is made up and won't change unless you personally experience the benefits.

"What you have not addressed is the 20 year report siting canabis as potentially addictive, brings on memory loss, lack of concentration, lowers IQ and psychosis not to mention it being a gateway drug, all proven facts"

@GAZZPA

Here ya go Mr Lazy. Can't find anything? Who are you working for? Lol. Here are just 3 vids(of 100's if not 1000's) on the advantages of medical marijuana.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjsPBfgZ2gY

No use arguing with people who see alcohol as a medicine, lol.....I'm not doing your research for ya. Look it up yourself. If you don't find anything perhaps you should try using a proxy or VPN. Many of these stories are censored these days by Big Pharma/Government, but to be honest you are one of those people who wont even believe the truth if it was staring you right in the face..so whatever. I'm not wasting my time on you. Cheerio

I am not one of these people who doesn't believe the truth when staring me in the face,, you have no idea who i am. If I am shown evidence that it does indeed cure cancer then I will be one of the first to rant about using the drug for this purpose.

What I dont agree with to date is the use socially. No one in their right mind with hinder the use for medical purposes if it cured cancer, it's stupid to suggest otherwise.

So, thank you for sending those links, interesting but to be honest only the words of some individuals. Frankly, I have seen claims of people who have miracle cure for all sorts of things, rarely is it true, in this case I think it is sadly the same.

So, not enough Im afraid, I have seen the website "cureyourowncancer.org,,, but I would still put my faith in doctors first and foremost. And here is the question, in the unfortunate event you were diagnosed with cancer how far does your faith go in healing yourself with marijuana? Or would you go to see a Cancer specialist,, I know my answer..

Anyway, my objection is to the people who endorse canabis and frequently abuse those who do not? I don't fear peer pressure to jump on your bandwagon but i won't hurl abuse at you for your opinion, perhaps a logical, sensible argument would be the best approach for people like you to persuade an open minded person such as myself, not just you are "asleep and should wake up".

I didn't hurl abuse at you, that's a bit over-sensitive, but after you ridiculed my post and the fact that cannabis cured certain diseases and helped others to contain their pain, etc. I defended myself.

Go back and read those posts again and you will see who started the 'aggression'.

Sensible and logical arguments don't change the world I'm afraid. There are too many brainwashed naysayers who are so convinced of their old world bs.

It's like trying to convince people that the world is a sphere when they still believe the world is flat.

People who say yes to alcohol, that kills millions a year, but no to a herb that never kills, but only relieves, cures and helps is beyond my comprehension.

It's up to you if you'd like to remain ignorant to this information or jump on 'my' bandwagon. I only spread the word and hope people are wise enough to listen because it's pretty obvious governments have been lying to us, so yes, it is time to wake up

I read your post, the aggression started with you, please read your post again, The original one i answered to and read your references, I can't be bothered to trawl them and highlight them to you.

I did not ridicule your post, I simply stated that your claim about curing cancer, arthritis and Parkinsons was BS and it still is. Ok, seen some research on the potential use of canabis for cancer but miles away from clinically proven and nothing on curing Parkinsons or Arthritis.

remember you were ridiculing people who did not want to legalise it and you supported your argument with claims of it being a miracle cure, which it isn't.

What you have not addressed is the 20 year report siting canabis as potentially addictive, brings on memory loss, lack of concentration, lowers IQ and psychosis not to mention it being a gateway drug, all proven facts. This is through regular usage as a recreational drug. This is what I dont agree with and I certainly don't think it should be legalised. What do you think of those issues? Do you not think they are a problem?

I have a friend who is now clean and sober after 15 years of substance abuse, he can tell you a very different truth on how harmful canabis is and how it destroys peoples lives, he has lived in that world and can tell worrying stories, believe me I have heard them.

Perhaps that is something you should do, speak to ex addicts and ask them about legalising it. Maybe when you get both sides of the story and speak to people who have suffered you will think twice about spreading the word.

@ Guitar God

Some people just haven't got a clue and no matter what proof you put in front of them they still wont be convinced. Somehow they were taught or brainwashed to dislike something and they really believe it's bad. They will never believe it, no matter what you show them. No use even arguing with them. It's a big waste of time. Now they are a majority but one day it will be the other way around, without a doubt.

the sooner the judiciary gets to grips with reality will be a bonus for everyone at the moment we are the laughing stock of the world a probable 50 years for attempting to sell a kilo of marijuana to undercover police is absolutely farcical this plant is accepted in most countries for its medicinal value but not in Thailand.

You should refrain from the hyperbole. Surely you know that marijuana is still illegal in "most countries," including the west. Drug trafficking in "most countries" is a serious offense which carries hefty jail time or worse. If the young man had done this in Indonesia, he would be on death row.

you can talk till you are blue in the face it does not change the fact that he committed an illegal act trying to sell a kilo of marijuana and should be dealt with according to the law. where in the world is selling a kilo of marijuana legal.

Excuse me BUT who gives a fiddler's fart about a drug deal gone south in the distant past? If that tosspot was that stupid to begin with let him rot in a Thai jail. Why his whereabouts or his condition is relevant at this time boggles my mind.

He looks kinda "pretty" especially after he shaves and with the first few weeks in prison and the food there, he is bound to shed a few kilos which I think will make him sought after in prison. he should have no problems with 50 years.

Anyone knows what happened to this guy after all?

I treied to google it but all I could find was this printed in an Irish newspaper  in 2015 :

"It's likely that he will not appear before the Thai courts until 2017.  If convicted he faces a maximum sentence of 50-years behind bars."

So he's not been to court yet ?
