Actually, medically speaking, she probably was. Obese people, for various complex factors, are often quite hungry. It's not a moral failing to be hungry and want to eat. But fat shaming is so easy and fun to do, isn't it, especially on internet forums?

Stealing, on the other hand, is a moral (and financial) failing.

Seen in a Koh Samui supermarket.... "anyone found shoplifting will be fined 10 times of the amount"...... not sure if this would fix the problem, or if it is enforceable, but it shows there is a problem....... must be some of those plastic gangsters that are supposedly here

Not enforceable, any punitive measures can only be taken by law enforcement agencies.

Not at all. I'm saying it would be nice if people educated themselves a little better about the complex factors involved in obesity. Also to avoid fat shaming and insults at people just based on their size.

I'd have sympathy for a broke and hungry person stealing a couple of bags of lays and a bottle of water....but over 3k Baht's worth??
