webfact Posted October 27, 2015 Share Posted October 27, 2015 Rayong launches Russian language training for tourism personnelRAYONG, 27 October 2015 (NNT)- Rayong province has begun a Russian language training program for employees of the tourism industry, in a bid to further develop their skills ahead of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).The Governor of Rayong, Somsak Suwansujarit presided over the opening ceremony of the training session. The event, organized by the Rayong Provincial Office and the Rayong Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports, aims to further develop the skills and knowledge of hotel, resort, restaurant, and tourist attraction site employees. The training is also aimed at developing personnel to meet service, communication, and management standards.The program is in accordance with the government’s goal to boost income from the tourism sector, as Thailand heads towards the AEC, due to begin at the end of the year.Deputy Governor Somsak said Russian tourists have been steadily coming to the province, with many unable to speak English. Therefore training in the Russian language is crucial for guides and other personnel in the tourism industry. But if you want to teach tourism personnel a language, wouldn't English be a better choice? Most Europeans, including Russians, speak some English. But if you want to teach tourism personnel a language, wouldn't English be a better choice? Most Europeans, including Russians, speak some English. Many Russians don't speak English. They have some economy problems but not that bad and when the oil price recovers Russia will recover. Russian is far easier than English (I'm American and took Russian in high school). Regular spelling, learned alphabet and how to read in first few weeks of class. It is logical, consistent and regular. English is in no ways a simple language: try explaining go-gone-went and other such odd balls... Or are they one of those group who dont speak any other language other then theirs and still want to travel? The amount of Chinese and Indians arrives at thailand is much higher than the Russians on a daily basis....why not learning those? Why not German language ? I think obviously it's a much better idea to expect the tourists to take a crash course in Thai before they arrive. Your answer really has to be one of the dumbest ever on Thaivisa.
