Israel strikes Gaza targets after rocket launched at Israel

JERUSALEM, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli Air Force (IAF) struck several targets in the Gaza Strip late Monday, after rockets were fired from the Hamas-ruled enclave towards southern Israel earlier in the evening.

"In response to the attack, IAF aircrafts targeted two terror sites of the Hamas terror organization in southern Gaza Strip," the Israeli military said in a statement.

It did not specify whether anyone was injured in the air strike, while Palestinian media outlets reported at least one person was injured in the strike, but did not report his condition.

Peter Learner, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesperson, added that Israel views Hamas responsible for any attacks carried out from its turf.

"Hamas must enforce their responsibilities or face the consequences," Lerner said in a statement. "We will act against those that attack us and hold those that enable attacks against Israel accountable."

So, on the one hand they don't recognise Hamas as a legitimate government, yet on the other hand they hold Hamas responsible for minority Salafist rebellious actions, and thus try to kill Hamas.

Just another excuse to kill Palestinians or make their lives miserable.

With satellites and their intelligence networks the IDF can detect with pinpoint accuracy exactly where the rockets were fired and who fired them. It would seem to make more sense to target the IS affiliated Salafists (Hamas' and Israel's common enemy) who fired the rockets rather than to try to inveigle Hamas into retaliation.

Same MO as last year. Blame Hamas for everything. prod, poke, push, provoke until Netanyahu gets a reaction, then he'll say "Whadda we do...we are the victims."
