BANGKOK — A video posted online today and currently making its way around the net seems to capture a brief encounter between a private citizen and public servant during the demolition of Saphan Lek Market.

In the video posted to Facebook by Fortyfive Bikershop, the inspection turns into a confrontation when a municipal enforcer known as tessakit decides to win an argument with the cheeky citizen by threatening to send soldiers to take him in for “attitude adjustment.”

Here's how it went down:

Cameraman: What are you doing ?

Technician: Removing the electricity meter.

A man believed to be the Phra Nakhon District chief walks past.

Cameraman: Oh, this is the first time I have ever seen you walking here. Are you the director of the district office? I have been living here for 30 years, and this is the first time I’ve seen you here.

District Chief: So, you are fortunate?

Cameraman: No, I am not fortunate. But it is fortunate for your feet to be walking here!

District Chief: Smart ass! Take a photo of him. One day you will be visited!

District Chief walks off. The tessakit pulls out his phone and asks to take a photo of the cameraman. The guy refuses, but the tessakit takes it anyway.

Tessakit: What’s your name?

Sounds about right for officials in thai government services .

Tessakit done ok on monthly fees (with receipts) from traders for years but know bigger cockroaches & money involved traders become the enemy.

No buddhism here, just greed for best baht .

Arrogant abuse of perceived power and authority along with an over inflated sense of importance.

And now loss of face.

This could end badly.

Its great isnt it, social media in the 21st Century will get them all one by one.

Remember, these officials are promoted on 'merit' in Thailand, so they have to be the best of the best! hmm.

Love your sense of humour cheesy.gif

No wonder they love swastikas in this part of the world: give 'em a uniform and they think they become mini-dictators.

Prayuth should set up a Prayuth Youth. They're halfway there already now the kids are parading more than being educated.

Every dictatorship...especially a military take-over of the government...goes thru a period in their lust for power where any dissension is met with twice as much force...intimidate the citizenry to keep them in line...

Democracy appears to be a dream fading into the military abyss...

You have to start to worry when even the press starts to refer to people as "citizen". It creates an us vs. them attitude between government and people.
