BANGKOK: -- IN HER testimony to the Alcoholic Drink Control Committee yesterday, Natthaweeranuch Thongmee insisted that she earned nothing from the photographs she posted on Instagram.

VJ Ja, as she is also known, was one of four celebrities who appeared before the committee yesterday to explain the photographs they posted on their Instagram accounts. The other three were Charattha Imraporn (Jam Neko Jump), Nonthaporn Theerawattanasuk (Ying Yae) and Warattha Imraporn (Noey Neko Jump).

It is against the law to advertise alcohol, display logos of alcoholic beverages or "entice" others to drink. The offenders are subject to a maximum jail term of one year or a fine of up to Bt500,000.

After the meeting with the committee, VJ Ja said she was happy to cooperate with the authorities. She admitted that she made a mistake and she promised to try to be a good example in society.

"I posted the picture for my friend and was never paid anything. Nobody has ever asked me to advertise alcoholic products. After learning that it is against the law, I will never do it again," she said.

When asked if her friend worked for an alcohol beverage firm, she refused to answer, saying she had already provided relevant information to the committee.

"I usually think before posting anything online, but this time I did not think enough, especially not about the impact it may have on society. Luckily, this will not affect my career," she said.

She was scheduled to testify at 9am but only showed up at around 11am, thus delaying the meeting sessions with the other three celebrities. The sessions were to be completed yesterday evening.

In a 'normal' country wouldn't this all be very clear. "Do you have any proof that I received money to take these pics? - No? Well, I didn't and until you have any proof stating otherwise, stop wasting my time!"

I guess the celebs also love playing this game to get coverage.

Ummm who is VJ Ja and what does she do ?

For a nation supposedly known for respect etc she was fashionably late for an official committee.

Oh wait, silly me, she's a VIP, isn't she ?

Right, but in a 'normal' country she would have also been held in contempt of court for showing up two hours late, and possibly for refusing to answer the question about her friend. She might have even gotten a free night in jail.

In a 'normal' country she wouldn't even have to answer questions about her instagram posts.

Its 2015, no one should be trying to dictate morals to anyone.

She reminds me of another well known Thai lady who has no respect for the law, the courts, and for attending meetings. thumbsup.gif

This entire case was a red herring in my opinion, designed to take attention away from other more important topics, like the economy.

The current Government probably copied the Australian government of the present and past, they are experts at it.

This is not about morals. It is about circumventing laws concerning advertising.

In other news, VJ Ja is suing Chang because she was not compensated for the photo she posted.
