We have enough clowns in BKK. Do we need more?

they could go to the German border and speak there a bit about immigrants....

Bo Derek? Seriously?

Makes you wonder, but she does have a bit more class and credentials than Bobnoxious and some of the other hangers on.

If Dudley was still alive today, I am sure he'd still think she was a '10" even at 58 years.

This is a prescription for chaos with Thais hosting.

Amazing the endlessly childish need some people feel to bash Thais for no logical reason ... although the choice of the word "prescription" may be unintentionally revealing.

Why are those fancy world conferences always in places where there is a lot of fun such as Bangkok and not in Ulaanbaatar or Timbuktu ...or Jeddah

Give it a couple of years; they can have it in Ulaanbaatar and it will be more fun than Bangkok.

Good point though, sounds like a bit of a boondoggle.

Its called a big Lovefest after its over the PM will be crowing about how all these important people agreed with his road map to success. I have been looking in all the book stores but could not buy a copy. I must go back and try again in the Fiction section.

The kids of the people Geldof saved in Africa are now the refugees in and coming to the UK ! Thanks Bob.

I haven't heard that very many of the current refugees are Ethiopian or Eritrean.

Sir Bob did a concert in Vancouver a few years back and cursed out the Vancouver audience for the continuing poverty, drug addiction, homelessness and degradation in the downtown eastside that hadn't changed since he lived in Vancouver just before going back to Ireland and forming the Boomtown Rats. Yeah, welcome back to Vancouver Bob; now you can f*&k off back to Ireland!

If that is a recent picture of Bo Derek, she's looking pretty good for 58!

And just like Cricketers going to the hot climes to avoid the English Winter.

There! That felt good, didn't it?

How much did you do for the world recently?

Incidentally, the 'joke' attendee Bo Derek, (multiple Gokden Rasberry nominee) has a bit more credibility than one might give her credit for:

- is a spokesperson for the Animal Welfare Institute's campaign to end horse slaughter through passage of federal and state legislation.

- Wounded veterans advocate; is national honorary chairperson for Veterans Affairs' National Rehabilitation,

- she received the VA's highest honor from Secretary of Veterans Affairs,

- goes on United Service Organizations (USO) tours.

- The Special Forces Association named her an honorary Green Beret.

(Pasted from Wilki)

All in all, good news for the tourist industry, which is where I make my living.

I was just about to put 'Send in the Clowns' and and see that is you lol!

I wonder if they'll buy some carbon offsets to "pay their fair share" on the global warming myth?

Doug Casey: Contrary to the blatantly untrue statements these people make about the science being “settled,” if the science indicates anything at all, it indicates that anthropogenic global warming is not significant. Remember, the question is not so much whether there is any warming – which is another question – but whether human activity is a major, or even significant, contributing factor to global warming.

Of course men can have an effect on the planet. We have wiped out numerous species that we know about, just in historic times, like the dodo, the passenger pigeon. And we almost did in the North American bison. Of course we have an impact, and people do make mistakes. It’s unfortunate. And because of the butterfly effect (because of quantum effects, tiny changes can have huge consequences, such as a butterfly flapping its wings on one side of the world resulting in a hurricane on the other side), humans could have a big effect on climate change – but so could everything else. The point is that there are other factors that have orders of magnitude greater impacts on the earth’s climate, things that are tens, hundreds, and thousands of times more important to the climate than anything mankind can do – perhaps even including a major nuclear war.

Fear is being used by the political class as an excuse to accumulate more power and self-importance – and collect a lot more taxes to support their agenda. Instead of being stampeded into the dark fantasy, we should focus on increasing our wealth and our knowledge. Eventually, mankind’s fate will depend on our technological advancement. Nature teaches us – not that many environmentalists listen – that we need to colonize the rest of the solar system, and beyond. Mankind must diversify, so all our eggs aren’t in one planetary basket.

But as an aside, I have to say I’m not sure I care if mankind is going to survive –I’m not sure why anyone should care, since most of us aren’t going to live more than three score and ten years anyway. Perhaps the world ends when we end… Mankind’s future seems beyond any individual’s concern, at least beyond the lifespan of your immediate friends and family. Too much worrying about things beyond your control can turn you into a busybody.

As long as "climate engineering" is not openly discussed, the whole climate change debate is useless.

Where is the use of millionaires talking about poverty ?

Where is the use of BP [???] talking about anything ?

Agenda 2030 is a nightmare and in connection to TTIP and TPP it's going to bring in the New World Order these people want to have.

... make a reality check, make up your own mind and then tell them all to stay where they are !!!

This is what many people in the UK think of Mr Geldof.

Very funny rant. The irony will be if it goes viral how much money will he take from it?

Don't really know what the rich celebrities are supposed to do. Because they are so rich would it not be right to then spend time trying to do something worthwhile like raising cash for the hungry or becoming a spokespeople for cancer charities or whatever else?

Of course because they have money, and therefore freedom from the 9 to 5 like most people they can do these things. But when they do it they get a load of grief, like from the bashers here on TV, I guess they cannot win really.

And then you get the missionaries who travel the world helping people with zero cash and no payment (I have met a good few here in Thailand) but they get bashed for being "God botherers".

And then retired politicians go and try and do something positive and they get slated for simply catching the limelight.

For me I am not jealous they are rich, good for them and if they can use their "fame" (however much value you think that holds) to help raise awareness and trigger some kind of action that helps the most needy then whats the problem?

The people who are bashing everyone on this list would bash anyone who appeared on the list whether they held genuine strong views about that person or not. Its all just for the sake of it.

Well,, I say good luck to them. I hope they inspire the younger, brighter individuals and pave the way for better things, then they can replace this generations miserable bunch of moaning gits and concentrate on making a real difference.

Bangkok....city of Angels?. Thought that was Los Angeles?

PS. Because some people think a person can sing a song or pretend to be someone else in a movie....does that make them "Icons"?

Posted

Geldof the guy who prompted others to pay while he took the glory.

Another self serving self promoting bleeding heart on the sleeve plaster saint as are the rest of this collection of I can afford my principles as long as others pay group.

Unbelievable that they have decided to bring an event that supposedly encourages free thinking in young people to Thailand in the present political climate.

I know.

The brainwashing Oh sorry attitude adjustment camps will be bursting at the seams.

Wonder who's paying them for this jolly?

Posted

Why are they even coming?

The Friday after they have been here, the mighty Mr. P will tell us exactly, what they have said and it will all be favorable of anything Thai.

End of story!

A recent story at a refugee camp sees many people

queuing up for food and water, on camera (publicity

stunt) off camera another person filmed on their own

cell phone the people throwing away the food and

asking the promoters for money, will they get money

i don't think so, how much will the personalities get ?

I am reminded of the con job that the disgusting and despicable "icon" Jimmy Savile

pulled on the British people for so long.

I think that the word "icons" has been particularly ill chosen with regard to the deadwood

which will be in Bangkok this month to mentor "young leaders" and to "save the world".
