Average Thai consumes 26 teaspoons of sugar per day: officials

Featured Replies

Nobody puts 10 teaspoons of sugar in their cup of coffee. Where did they come up with this number?

The ice coffee that Thais love are full of sugar. Also the brands you buy in the stores , all the sweetened ice coffee I have tried are almost undrinkable for a westerner.

So are there any drinks sold at 7/11 that are 'healthy' and do not contain sugar, carbohydrates etc.

All I see are sweetened drinks.

Any specific drinks/brands to look out for?

Apart from water, this is probably the next best drink to have from a 7/11 store.

15 grams of sugar , how many teaspoons ?

To add a note of good news.

For people who are already overweight or obese, there are ways to be a more healthy, less likely to get diabetes (and other diseases) overweight or obese person.

That includes changing your food intake to health promoting foods (even if that doesn't result in weight loss, at least it would probably prevent more weight gain) and also very important -- EXERCISE REGULARLY.

Yes, active overweight and obese people are less likely to become diabetic than those who don't exercise.
