Weak eurozone demand hits 'Made in Germany' goods

BERLIN: -- German industrial orders fell for the third consecutive month in September – in particular due to weak demand from other eurozone countries.

The surprise news from the Federal Statistical Office has led to warnings about the outlook for Europe’s largest economy.

Orders for ‘Made in Germany’ goods fell by 1.7 percent on the month. Bookings from abroad were down by 2.5 percent; from other eurozone countries they fell by 6.7 percent.

Over three months the impact of the Chinese slowdown appears to be more marked.

Economists have expressed different opinions: from “it’s a bump in the road, nothing more” to forecasts that German economic growth is set to remain sluggish.

Who would buy anything from Germany? The leadership is again the traitor of Europe, ushering in a sea change in culture and economy.

Then there's this little thing about the scammers at VW who have cheated the entire world while polluting it.

See ya.

I feel sorry for those normal hardworking German people , they have been let down by there government and respective agencies why wasnt there any physical test on emissions and economy, where are the taxes really going. lets not go into Merkels immigration policy.

^^^ Do the German people have elections and actually choose these people like Mer, Mer, Merkel? Really? Then they deserve what they get.

Cheers.

The article states that external factors are impacting Germany's economy - while no Euro leader is an island, the troubles abroad cannot, reasonably, be laid at Merkel's door.

As for VW and the refugee crisis, these events are too recent to be seen as impacting current economic data.

Maybe a slow down in the economy, maybe a reaction to the VW scandal of lie and cheat that

makes people realise not all this German are world class, and maybe a reaction to Merkel and

her arm wide open welcome of immigrants to the EU. For me it would be the third reason. coffee1.gif

Sometimes politicians are so busy patting themselves on the back that they do not realize that they are standing on a train track with a silver bullet heading right at them. I think you should discuss Merkels immigration policy as that is what will be Europe's eventual downfall. If that happens look out for Europeans heading for Western shores "Lookin for a home" Their money has already preceded them into the American stock exchange.

After the next round of "data" Draghi will have to speed up the printing presses. Steady as she goes will turn into full speed ahead damn the torpedos.

I do agree that "we" deserve what we get. I simply doubt that it will be as bad as some people on this forum hope or at least predict.

We might see a downturn even a recession (what nobody in Europe who is in his right mind would want to happen) but we will come out of it. I remember a time some years ago when we had more than five Mio. people unemployed. We did not collapse. Some unpleasant reforms (yet moderate, I'd say) and, surprise, we are still here.

Whatever is happening right now, "we" will get it under control (that includes the refugee crisis).

The last recession started around 2008 and many would argue that we have not recovered fully, yet credible economists are now talking about another recession having started, or is imminent.

Despite the very painful lessons from the past 15 years, nothing has fundamentally changed in the way that companies and countries conduct commerce; it is just that the boom and bust cycles seem to be shortening while the transfer of capital upwards intensifies. Our global economy is built on consumption and consumer demand, but with ever tightening budgets for the middle classes, the only way that goods can be kept affordable without affecting the economic model is by increasing consumer debt and by squeezing those at the bottom even more, leading to political and economic instability home and abroad.

We may come through this and the next recession, but without a will by governments to throw out the current, corrupted, model and try something new, I fear that we will be going round in ever decreasing circles of misery.

^ I already gave this post a 'like' but I would also like to say that Rudy has hit the nail on the head. We are trapped in a cycle of investment and growth followed by collapse (of the middle/working class). If we don't change our economic paradigm we will eventually run into the limits of growth and have a very serious crash.

No government has ever been able to support its people. People have to support the government. Taxes in Germany are atrocious, robbing wealth from the private sector that could be used for investment which leads to jobs and prosperity. Money invested into the government (taxes) is lost forever as investment capital.

Germany now has this massive influx of economic opportunists who want a big piece of this German largess. This model will fail simply because Germany can't support its own people in addition to the new opportunists.

This is just the latest attempt by Germany to control Europe and to have its own controlling government. This too will fail. How do so many people get sucked into believing that if they fail their government can and will prop them up? How? The government doesn't have any money it doesn't first take from the people!

Europe is screwed, blued, and tattooed.

Cheers.

Trickle down economics is an abject failure, unless, of course, you accept its true intent, which is to rob the majority blind - just look at how the wealth of the top strata continues to balloon while those who actually produce the goods that generate income are continuing to pay the price for the excesses of the Elite.

Yes your correct. We transferred our debt way of life to Asia and you can now see Asians driving around in new financed cars they cannot afford along with the newest IT hardware, homes etc. How do you think the Chinese got prosperous so fast? borrowed money. Us old timers who pinched our pennies knew how to handle money and money was a lot more expensive at the banks. Now its casino day every day at the banks. In all my years I have never seen such insanity and now banks want to charge me interest to park my hard earned money with them ridiculous. Why would they want my money all they have to do is have the government crank up the funny money printing presses. The banks are chuck full of money funny money and in the process has made my money almost worthless. I trusted and believed the government all my working years to save for my retirement what bullshit. I guess young people now have seen the flaw in this process and spend and borrow all they can lay their hands on. Is this a sustainable formula? hardly.
