Hi,

I hand back my WP next Friday 13th October :o as this is my last day of work. The labour office should give me a receipt, a TM. form, as proof that I have handed in my WP on that day...

As I understand it, the countdown then begins: I shall have 7 days to report to Thai immigration (in Bangkok?) to tell them my non-imm B visa is no longer valid + hand over the TM. form...

After that, how long will the immigration department allow me to stay in LOS before I have to leave the country? I'm hoping like hel_l that they allow me to come back in immediately on a 'new' 90 day tourist visa - I have had my current WP for over 6 months

I've called immigration, but they were unable to inform me :D

Oh, and whilst I've got you, do you know if it's necessary for me to even go to the Bkk branch? I live equal distance from the Kan. branch also...

Thanks for your help,

James

It depends on the type of your current permission to stay.

If you are here on an extension of stay based on your work permit, immigration will order you to leave within seven days. You should have no problem at all getting a single-entry tourist, valid for 90 days and giving you permission to stay for 60 days, at a Thai consulate, but better avoid Phnom Pen, Hanoi, Manila.

If you are here on a multiple-entry non-B, which means that you had to leave and re-enter Thailand every 90 days, you are free to remain until the end of your current permission to stay (admitted until... date) and to continue using your visa for new visa runs until the expiration date of the visa.
