South Thailand border / Non-O based on Thai Child

Hi,

I went the last 2 years to Vientiane for my non-o based on my child (Thai).

At the moment I thinking about to move to the south of Thailand.

From there it will make not much sense to go to Vientiane for my non-o again.

What is the actual visa situation South Thailand border?

There are special requirements or other hurdles or pitfalls?

Penang would likely be the nearest place to obtain the visa.

The Consulate may require evidence of adequate funds in a Thai bank .
