My accountant in Australia is Lao/Thai and he tells me when he is investing in real estate in Thailand he always pays a bit extra because his Aussie/Thai accent gives him away as no longer being a local . Same as my son - he speaks with a Aussie/Thai accent having spent most of his life in Oz, so with your american accent - just be aware if you are making any "investments " whether they are real estate or women. smile.png

I believe your fears to be groundless and you have been mislead. It is one of the safest places in the world to travel and the people pleasant and honest. If you come looking for trouble however - you can get it.

Dont rent a Motorbike !!! You may drive one in the USA. But over here in Thailand, Just go to the hospital Emergency room. They drive Crazy here and stupid.
