How can I get international web sites to load ALL pages in English? They see my Thai IP address automatically think I'm Thai speaking? I'm currently using FireFox Ver 40.0.3.

Thank you in advance.

And part of the software tries to install itself in German as I have somewhere German settings.

So I am between Thai and German, but would like English.....

Is your browser set to load English as in post #2? But expect there will be exceptions and that page may make it's own mind up. I do not use Firefox but when I load a link to Facebook it loads in English on my Chrome (although I do have an unused account there so maybe that would solve issue if you set it up in English?)

The only solution I can think of that will cover all websites is to use a VPN which makes it appear that you are in the UK or some other English-speaking country.

Google says

You can also choose your preferred language for pages in Options menu > Content submenu > Languages [Choose...].

Thank you.

Been there, the only options I have listed are: ENGLISH [en] and ENGLISH [en/usa]

BTW - The Google is one of the main offenders, I'm currently trying to get an app from their site but it's in Thai and I cant find a language icon. Unlike some other sites where it's quite recognisable.

Have tested Google with and without cookies and if use Thai IP Facebook indeed comes up in Thai - but I normally use Singapore IP so everything comes up in English (but Google likes to provide Singapore specific information recently - that did not happen until last month or two).

Have fixed the Google location issue by doing a search using Google and then going to bottom of page where it lists Singapore as my general location and allowing it to record my actual location in Google Singapore database - and indeed it gets it right and now information is provided for my location.

As a rule I don't do 'social media' but this is a special need. My Grand Daughter is in hospital and my Daughter is maintaining updates on 'Instagram'. Apparently I need to go via this site to create a login.

Bad software as usual.

Unfortunately not all website programmers adhere to useful methods of determining the users preferred language.

How can I get international web sites to load ALL pages in English?

And you can do nothing in these cases (except using VPN).

Indeed Facebook is one of the sites that seems to derive the (initial) language from the IP address which is stupid.

As described the browsers have settings for the preferred language (order) from which the language should be derived.

Another most stupid example is skyscanner.

http://www.skyscanner.com automatically redirects (!) me without asking to http://www.skyscanner.co.th/ which comes up in Thai.

Fortunately the setting is easy to find on this page.

http://www.skyscanner.de leads me to German language site (so far so mediocre)

I tried to understand the multitude of links and methods of switching at the skyscanner sites.

I gave up wink.png Terrible.

http://thaiairways.com/ demonstrates a fairly usual method of presenting a language selection which is stored in a cookie.

(you will not see it if you haved used the site before and selected a language)

Other airline sited do it similar.

You can create an account here:

https://instagram.com/?hl=en

Question, which language does show up if you go to https://www.google.co.th/ ?

Thai or English

Thank you for your interest.

You will see the requirement for an app to create an account??? That's what I'm trying to do.

http://english.blog.eazel.com/create-instagram-account-from-your-pc/

Sites like this offering free patches ARE NOT Free. They insist I also download and install junk I don't want.

That Google Search link comes up in Thai, I use: https://www.google.com.au/?gws_rd=ssl

https://www.google.co.th/

For both of the links I get them in German (which I set as preferred language before English).

Thats best practice.

What you should try:

start a "New Private Window" in Firefox and try the links in this window.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/private-browsing-use-firefox-without-history#w_how-do-i-open-a-new-private-window

This assures that no presettings are used which come from cookies (previous use of the site).

Thank you as well,

Still comes up in Thai in a new private window -- as well as deleting all cookies and starting afresh.

Oke change the Thai Google Site into English and try the link again

Sorry didn't look any further to registration on Instagram as I also don't use social media.

I set the Thai Google site to English and reloaded OK in English but I'm betting if I clear the cookies again it will come back in Thai.

The Google app site still comes up in Thai.

And you have checked the language settings in the browser?

What does this site show for the language part?:

http://mybrowserinfo.com/detail.asp?bhcp=1

For me it shows:

...

Language: German

System Language: Not detectable with this browser

User Language: de

...

Where the "User Language" entry is the important one!
