New Farmhouse Royal bread selection...where to buy/find?

Yes I know what most will say...go to a shop like Macro or 7 11. Ive been there and done that several times and have yet to find one that stocks this bread.

By chance a few days ago I picked up (purchased) a loaf of the Royal whole wheat bread from a 7 11 in Mae Rim. Its actually one of those half loaf packages from Farmhouse. Very tasty and would make a great toast due to the thickness of the cut.

The last few days Ive been looking everywhere trying to locate some more... its magic at mopping up a good dish of Chicken vindaloo.

Has anyone seen this stuff in their regular shopping trips?

I just noticed large amount of the white version available at local MaxValue here in Bangkok for the first time this week - expect distribution was very limited at first until production/demand picked up.

Maybe it is where I purchase my whole wheat but when ever I toast it,it is hard to keep from breaking up. Have to hold a large portion in my hand. So I have been using seven grain. Not as good for me as whole wheat but far more manageable.

I have bought all 3 varieties, white, wheat, and 12 grain at Big C and Tesco.

Unfortunately, I'm not overly impressed with it.

Unfortunately out of curiosity after reading of this bread i bought one in Rimping for lunch today.

Typical thai overly sweet, gluggy in the mouth poor excuse for bread.

12 grains as said on the pack...all fine ground, could be anything!

One sandwich and fed the rest to the bird.definitely will not buy it again.

Another point is that farmhouse bread is so full of chemicals that it" appears" to stay fresh for weeks.

The extremely high sugar content of most breads here is why they break up when toasted[esp thick slices], because the sugar is melting before the whole slice toasts, thereby losing its structural integrity and becoming very fragile.

The only way to buy and eat fairly decent grain breads here is to pay near western prices for Tops, for eg, whole grain bread, which is reasonable but expect very short keeping fresh time.

Making your own is a good alternative, but as usual you pay for what you make, and get only as good as the ingredients used.

Interesting comments and feedback...perhaps I have a sweet tooth as this bread is quite alright by me. I have tried others and found them to be either way too sweet or drier than a bulls bum going backwards up a hill.

As for this bread 'keeping' well, yes it does. Full of preservatives? Quite likely, but then I can do with a bit of preserving! Ive bought other 'wholesome' loaves from different establishments (ie bakeries) and when fresh they are very good but I do get a bit annoyed when they go mouldy within 48 hrs. Sure I could freeze the bread but then I believe that shouldnt be necessary if youre going to eat it within say 24 to 36 hours.

Yet again another case of each to their own?

For sure, each to their own.

Was looking for an article/forum that had had quite a discussion on the over preservativised "farmland bread' couldn't find it, but this one may be of interest;

This new bread available at Tops. Bought a loaf of the multigrain and found it quite acceptable. I am more impressed by the bread from JJ Bakery, available also at Tops, but quite often sold out.

the wife brought some home the other day. absolute garbage. not bread but a typical Thai sweet cake. thank god there is so much good bread available from a number of bakeries. i don't care for most restaurants in C.M. but do appreciate a handful of good bakeries here.
