His number 2 has been killed at home in Pattani, according to another news source.

Blood infection...

You believe this news time for levity? I've usually taken any and all that flies under the radar here as something I can do nothing about. It's a fact that it's not just 'the we farang' excuse now, is it? Unless the Thai people are given access and education as to what is happening without fear or favour, it will continue and it disgusts me.

Start by educating yourselves on what human trafficking, of any nationality and any country, really means.

And here is a very extensive article from BBC covering many areas...

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-32835811

"These are areas at the Thai-Malaysia border which are militarised. So you had police and military in those areas. There is no way somebody would be able to operate camps of that size without somebody signing off in exchange for a 'packet'".

There was a story in the Bangkok Post stating that the police chief has found no evidence of death threats toward Paween. Wow... Big surprise there. Thailand still is incapable of doing the right thing even on a major human rights issue as this one. One can only hope that Paween can remain safe in Australia.

edit: But wait, there's more! The government can charge Paween with defamation. That will surely fix death threats, human trafficking, and corruption in the government.

In a disturbing twist to the saga, prayuth has now said that Paween should come back and file lawsuits against those he accuses of threatening him,

Tell me now, who threatened you? It is no matter how big they are, I will have them punished,” Prayuth told reporters.

Yeah, sure, the sincerity is strong with this one

I think this filth goes right to the top. Even if Prayuth had the intention to do something that he would have to back down once he knew who was involved.

Think you are probably right, it would be either backdown or proceed with great peril.....

Many migrant workers are abused in Thailand. Read the latest about this from the nation newspaper. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/national/Many-migrants-abused-panel-30275177.html

To quote a sentence from a well written article.

Siwawong Suktawee, who also works with a network protecting the rights of migrants, said: "Even Pol Maj-General Paween Pongsirin, who investigated those allegedly behind the trafficking of Rohingya, has had to seek asylum in Australia."

Who is left to tackle this growing problem? 400,000 migrants are trying to give their families a happy Christmas whilst in the back of their mind is the chance they will get deported. 500,000 migrant children with no school to go to.

Help stop the trade in migrant workers. Bring back Pol Maj-General Paween Pongsirin.

Thailand is a human rights train wreck. The rule of law was bought for some sum down in Koh Tao, and no effort is made to acknowledge the many issues the country is facing. At some point, trying to run a country with medieval methodologies is going to fail. The human rights groups are continuing the pressure, but it is an uphill battle all the way.
