Well, Thai Immigration Bureau refuses to answer questions and every expat I ask gives

me a vastly different picture of what is what about Visa's!

Given rumours are presently abound, if anyone can help, but not hinder, then please do;

32 years, Thai Wife and Infant, Savings in Thai Wifes Name and England some Savings.

Single Entry Visa 'O' expires November 20th 2006

A? Can I extend my single entry Visa 'O' in Cambodia at the Royal Thai Consulate?

B? If I fail to extend my Visa 'O' will I be able to re-apply at a later date, and when?

C? Will it suffice to inform immigration of exact residence when I re-enter Thailand?

D? Can I downgrade myself, without scorn, to a tourist (double or triple) visa in Cambodia?

E? Also there is no E-MAIL for the Thai Consulate in Cambodia. Can anyone provide e-mail?

a. No. Consulates do not extend visas - they issue visas.

b. Yes. You may apply at any Royal Thai Consulate for a new visa. But if you would like a multi entry type it would probably be best to do so in your home country.

c. You do not do 90 day reports except when on an extension of stay - so the TM.6 you present at immigration on return is the only requirement.

d. I seriously doubt you will obtain any kind of multi entry visa in Cambodia. But yes, you can use a tourist visa but non immigrant would provide 90 day entry - tourist only 60 days.

Actually, this is helpful and to the point and there is even an e-mail for me to follow up. Thanx.

One thing that worries myself is i've read at this site that if you apply for a Visa 'O' and fail for

whatever reason you will not be permitted to apply for a Single Entry Visa in the future, TRUE?

One additional point, even though the jump from single to multiple is an excessive and aloof

status for myself, thai immigration website suggest against going for this type of visa, WHY?

There is no reason a non immigrant visa would be refused except for lack of documents and you can always apply again when you have them so believe you have heard an untrue rumor.

You are expected to apply for extension of stay if married and intending to live in Thailand so a multi entry would be a needless cost - all you need is the one entry.

At present the requirement for extension seems to be a matter of debate as Bangkok has insisted that 400k bank deposit would no longer be accepted for new applicants but Penang seems to be saying that it is to another poster. Perhaps Penang is taking the fact applicant is already in country as a qualification for using old rules? But at this point the requirement seem to be as cloudy the air in Penang right now.

If you can show 400k in a joint account I would give extension of stay at immigration a try - they can only say no and nothing lost.

Phnom Phen has a website up and running where you can download an application form but Singapore doesnt........................ :o

Speaking on applying for a 1 year Non-O, if applying for a one year multiple entry visa would it be better to say in a letter that you intend to live with your wife in Thailand for most of the year, but you will have to return home to visit family several times through out the year, hence the need for a multiple entry?

Would a letter like that help in getting a 1 year multi entry rather then the embassy just issuing a 3 month single entry, which would be no good to me as i would have to do the same process over again in three months as i can not meet the financial req for an extension.

Any other doccuments or statements i could make in assisting in getting a 1 year???
