Touring 19 Provinces project to increase tourism revenues

Mr. Sakthip Krairiksh (ศักดิ์ทิพย์ ไกรฤกษ์), the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, presided over the conference to integrate the plans for "Touring 19 Provinces” project. The objective is to lay out an action plan for a tour project with the provincial governors and CEOs of 19 integration groups in each province, including the northern provinces in the central region, the eastern provinces, and the southern provinces in the central region.

The objective of the plans is to develop tourism destinations to their fullest potential, especially development in terms of areas or clusters. The development will occur along with the conservation of natural resources, preservation of the environment and the local’s way of life for sustainable development. The plan will follow marketing strategies to maintain current customers while expanding the market and attracting tourists who have high purchasing power. The plan is to make the tourism industry one of the main sources of income for Thailand. Another aim is to integrate tourism activities with the production of local handicrafts and service businesses that have high potential. Such integration will create added value to businesses, increase employment opportunities, and disperse income within communities in the future.

The aim of this conference is to increase the number of holidays and the average spending of each tourist. This would create about a 20% increase in revenue from tourism. This strategy would also increase the number of tourists who visit the country and revenue from the tourism industry.

Oh, today is Tuesday, so it must be Kanchanaburi, tomorrow Korat.......

When was the survey done that showed that this is what tourists want?

Thailand is not Europe with real sights to see in every city.
