Jai Dee Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 ABAC Poll shows BKK people have high expectations on the new govt. ABAC Poll Research Center conducted a survey on the public expectations and thoughts toward the new Cabinet. The research consisted of 1,214 samples from Bangkok and its peripheral areas. 75.7 percent wanted the new Cabinet to have a positive image, while 42.5 percent believed that lobbying may take place as certain people would like to be appointed in the Cabinet. Mr. Noppadol Kannika, the head of the ABAC Poll Research Center, said the political situation at the moment is still insecure, and the situation is currently in the turning point. Therefore, the new Cabinet must not let the public down, and the ministers must be well accepted among the people. In addition, the government and its system should help unify members of the public before pointing its finger at any side or making any movement because this is a sensitive political issue. Another important issue is that Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont has to show his leadership skills in solving the troubling issues more concretely. The constitution must be amended in a way that people can easily understand without any misinterpretation. The government has to support the Election Commission in regulating and administrating their issues so the election would be held in a just and transparent manner. Lastly, the interim government must return the power to the people before the one-year period, as this would led to Thai and foreign people to believe that the Cabinet members are working for the good of the country, not themselves.
