I have seen, with younger Thais going out in a group, that it is uncommon to go dutch, Thais I know tend to frown on the constant finagling going on with farang who each pay their "fair share".

Amongst friends, perhaps they have given their money to one girl and she pays the bill for everyone.

And in long term relationships of Thais I know, the financial division really does seem to depend on the people involved., sometimes its the wife, sometimes the husband but AFAIK there is no hard and fast rule that the woman controls the spending.
