Smart TV vs Android TV, which is better?

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

Was checking digital TV that connects to the internet via WiFi, the needed size is '32 inches,

after visiting several places, Homepro, Power Buy, Tesco lotus, Makro and some priovate eletco shops,

We ended with 2 options as below:

1) Toshiba, Digital TV, Android based, with 4 GB hard disk,

with 3 USB, 3 HDMI, can connect keyboard and mouse to surf the net, or check emails, etc,

at power buy, promotion price at 11,700 THB.

2) LG, Smart TV, OS LG, with 4 GB hard disk,
with 3 USB, 3 HDMI, all sepc as above.

at Makro, promotion price: 10,990 THB

both with 1 year warranty,

this TV for the kids, since they like to watch YouTube, or switch to watch the cable TV cartoon,

The major question is: which one is better? efficient? and durable? the money is not the big matter, quality and funcationning efficiently is the concern matter,

Kindly advice, with many thanks in advance, or any other suggetions will be very much appreciated,

Kind regards,

I'll move this to the appropriate forum.

Meanwhile, if the Android unit allows access to the Play Store I'd go with that option.

Think Angry Birds on a 32"screen smile.png

Alternatively get a dumb TV and an Android stick, we have several <9,000 Baht Sharp 32" digital tellys with an assortment of Android sticks.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

At only a few days pay these are very cheap items and made that way - some will last for a long time and others not so long but there is not likely to be much overall difference between major companies. The generation of the unit (newest model) is probably the most important factor as improvements are ongoing - but even then at current prices you will not lose that much and most would not notice the difference.

As said check out what is available or has to be paid for at additional costs, Believe most android is more open in that regard but have not checked as do not use although have an LG system in living room that grandchildren have no problem using for You tube.

What sticks are the hot ones?

Preferably vpn capable.

With the Android stick...

Can you screen mirror a Tab or a phone?

Is it possible to connect to a Bluetooth speaker simultaneously while screen mirroring?

Is it possible to connect to a WiFi router and browse the net, connect to Youtube etc.?

(all above by wireless, of course)

Finally, what are the pros & cons between a smart TV and an Android stick (set-top TV box)?

Thank you very much.

we got an LG 32' already,, LG Smart TV, 32', with OS LG, 4 GB hard disk,
with 3 USB, 3 HDMI, bought at Makro, the promotion price was 10,990 THB,

mainly bought for the kids, to watch Youtube and some cartoon channels, 2 in 1 for their needs, and avoid their interference with other devices,
