François Hollande begins a week of intense diplomacy in search of an anti-ISIL coalition

PARIS: -- As France prepares to up its military offensive against ISIL in Syria with the arrival off the coast of its nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and its 36 planes, this week sees President François Hollande reinforce his diplomatic offensive as well.

Citing “imminent” threat, Brussels extends high alert

BRUSSELS: - Citing a "serious and imminent" threat of attack, Belgium's prime minister announced Monday that Brussels will remain at the highest alert level for at least another week, maintaining security measures that have severely disrupted normal life in the capital.

$160B deal to combine Pfizer and Allergan raises outcry

Social media helps drive historic Cuban exodus to US

Turkey asks 'what happened to us' over fans' disrespect

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — On a night of European soccer matches between national teams, the scenes in London and Istanbul were a study in contrast. The British and French fans at London's Wembley Stadium sang the French national anthem in solidarity over the Paris attacks, while in Istanbul hundreds of Turkish fans booed the Greek national anthem and disrupted a moment of silence for those killed in Paris.

White House asks allies to step up in IS campaign

First Lao satellite enters orbit on Saturday morning

Suicide vest found in Paris raises possible link to suspect

BRUSSELS (AP) — A street cleaner found an explosive vest similar to those used in the Paris attacks on Monday near the place where a suspect's mobile phone had been found, raising the possibility that he aborted his mission, either ditching a malfunctioning vest — or fleeing in fear.
