I have read all the different ideas of how the get around the current

problem for thoius of us who can no longer do 12 border visa-runs a year.

Lots of ideas.

now that the Oct 1st deadline has past. I want to hear tried and tested

solutions to get around this problem.

What works, for sure.

Can people please start posting what they have done since oct 1st that actually works.

That will help everybody in the next few months, we need to shair advice on what

can be done so we can stay here.

Thing is that we will only really get some experience/stories around 1st Jan 2007 as 1st Oct is the starting date for counting days (max 90 in a 180 day period). I.e. from now till 2007 it is "biz as usual" for 30 day visa-runners. Cheers!

There's 2 major questions that need answering, and I doubt if anyone would be able to give definitive answers yet.

1. Will consulates in neighboring countries offer back to back tourist visas ad infinitum?

2. Will the Immigration Office in Thailand continue to offer 30 day extensions to people with a long stay history?

If either of those questions are answered in the negative, then long stays on tourist visas will no longer be possible and a lot of people will be looking to alternative countries.

Eg. Philippines allows tourists to stay one year on extensions. Fly out and return for one more year...forever. Cost for a full year is approximately 9K (baht).

Malaysia offers 90 day stamps on arrival and it's easy to get 5 year visas.
