I've read in posts that a one day overstay is not a problem if leaving from an airport -- what about at a land crossing (Nong Khai)? I understand I will probably pay a fee, but any problems about re-entering on a new visa?

Should I be concerned? Thanks for any experiences you can share.

Had the same myself a few months ago, no problem exiting, just go to the Immigration counter on the left at the NK Immigration checkpoint to be processed and pay the 500 Baht fine

I did it in early 2014 on a visa exempt border run from Bangkok to Poi Pet. I had a one day overstay, originally entering Thailand using the 30 day visa exemption (USA citizen). You go and sit with the immigration folks, there was a sign. It was friendly chat as they ask a few questions about what I do in America, etc. No doubt they will look for anything suspicious like many back to back visas, or anything else that tickles their fancy. I only have a once a year 30 day trip in my passport. You fill out a form or two, they make a log entry, hand them 500 baht, they gave a receipt and it was done. Back into Thailand shortly thereafter for another 30 days
