It is just not right. The people of Thailand are being treated with disrespect.

When is a Nanny State not a Nanny State, when it is being run by a military junta.

...so if the new government will not follow HIS roadmap and will not agree with HIS plans (if there are any) then he will come back??? Anouncing a new coup already? What chance will have a new government if the majority will be of PT members? ZERO I suppose.

Is all about power. Prem, Suchinda and now Prayuth, once in power, power corrupts and they all pushed to become PM.

All government officials are retiring between the age of 60-65 years and it great time that is should also be linked to any government officials.

It is high time that Thailand looks at the Indonesian model of how to move the generals out of politics but then again we are not permitted to talk about those peoples on this forum that hold the key.

While I'm not disputing the general point of your post, Prem is the interesting one. Remember he actually suppressed a coup, and initiated the amnesty with the Communists. To hear many on here, the very word amnesty condemns you to be lined up against a wall and shot!

Prem was a strong man for sure, but he sort of worked within the confines of Thai politics and the limitations of the monarchy. If I had to summarize him, I'd say he's the closest to a Lee Kwan Yew Thailand has ever had, albeit not half as successful, you only need to look at the Singapore of today versus the Thailand of today

I can't bear to watch so does anyone know if he said ' at the earliest ' or ' at least ' and was he grinning, or suppressing one, as he spoke ?

Well, if you look at his track record so far. Whereas every 3-5 months the date of allowing an election moves farther away. It is quite possible that by July 2017 that date will already have been changed by 5-6 years added on to it. Did he even give a reasonable excuse as to why elections can't be held next year this time? It would not surprise me if next year the people decide they have had enough and take to the streets again since nothing really has changed except for a little less visible corruption and stricter laws which have not really affected the bosses and has made many transfers to inactive posts.

I'd be surprised if its before July 2018 , I have feeling the charter review will get rejected.

BANGKOK: Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha reiterated Friday night that his government would remain in the office until July 2017 after which he will hand the baton to a new government.

Good at least this Government can keep the bloodshed at bay,I haven't seen anybody else has been done better! to end the bloodshed!

While there are many things I disagree with that this govt. has enacted, I would much rather have him/them running this country than the Shin marauders.

Yes but you do understand your a minority right ??

A year Prayut means a year without Shinawatras (or Abhisit, the male version of Yingluck).

I think I can bury the bope that the Democrats will reform themself and find an able leader.....So better Prayut

at least this government is going in the right direction not in the opposite as the shin democracy governments did and would like to again

yeah, just don't get yourself rolled into a military detention center on LM charges and you'll probably come out breathing... coffee1.gif

the LM charges are not an invention of this government

- and being "rolled" into a detention center is quite unlikely for him isn't it?

So the baton will be handed to a new govt in July 2017, MABYE !

Will the new govt be one chosen by the Thai people or him ?

A good way to eradicate vote buying is to ensure that any and all votes are totally meaningless, sort of like what's happening here. whistling.gif

I don't understand why ordinary Thai people put up with this.

He, and the real powerbrokers, stole the country from the people under a pretext and refuse to give it back.

This had nothing to do with saving Thailand

It was a pre-planned coup.

For personal control and of course financial gain.

A coup against an elected government is treason isn't it?

This'll give Yingluck something to discuss with the EU ( if they let her go)

But even if they don't the EU know what this guy is all about.

So you really believe it were the people who owned the country ?

before Prayuth had to take it away from the shins?

C'mon! give "El Primo" a break.

He has told us that he doesn't want this power he wrestled from the people.

He and his minions have told us there is every reason to follow his agenda and if we don't he cannot guarantee our safety!

He has just recently told the US that they can forget looking for trade deals with Thailand after the US ambassador made his remarks a few days ago.

He has ensured that when future governments take over that he and his minions are protected from law suits.

yes sir'ee, a man worth idolizing!

Dang...the tunnel keeps getting longer and the light at the end dimmer...it appears likely that the Military Junta will stay in power indefinitely...stirring up some armed opposition in the wake of a never ending dictatorship...

It's not paranoia of military henchmen, it's disgust. bah.gif

There is no reason to be paranoid regarding this self-appointed "PM".

But he has proven that he's not smart enough, nor savvy enough to run a country. His foot-in-mouth disease is exceptional, ... as just one example.

But there is a good reason for all Thai people to be worried. The future of the country is being railroaded down an 18th century path not only by this corrupt buffoon, but by a group of ultra-corrupt elites and generals who's greed is so strong that they will abuse human rights of everyone in Thailand just so they can be in control.

They have killed their own citizens repeatedly throughout history and clearly continue to do so today. They usurp the labels of democracy but have no desire to see democracy in Thailand. They accuse others of deeds for which they are in fact the worst offenders.

There is no way to adequately describe the disgusting nature of these people.

When you have your eyes wide open, you have no paranoia. But what you see can turn your stomach. This group of morons needs to be dealt with, and that will, eventually, be the responsibility of every Thai citizen and all those who care about Thailand and it's future.

As this OP and many others make clear, these folks are going any where soon voluntarily.
