1 year non O visa on marriage

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I got a 1 year non visa based on marriage and the 2 December it will be already 3months passed, do I have to leave the country to stamp my passport or can I do it here in Thailand at the immigration office?

Thanks

You have to leave the country.

If you have a multi entry non O visa you have to leave the country every 90 days.

Look in the passport for a stamp that reads "admitted until xx/xxx/xxxx", you must leave on or before that date.

Just to clarify, you need to look at this stamp (sample)

Thanks for your answers

You also have the option of extending your stay - as you are married you can extend once (per entry stamp) for 60 days, or you can extend for 1 year. The 1 year extension removes the requirement that you leave the country every 90 days; instead you are required to confirm your address to immigration every 90 days (which can be done on-line).

There are many topics posted on TV which discuss the extension process, required docs, and financial evidence required.

whistling.gif You do not get VISAS based on marriage at immigration in Thailand.

What you CAN get , if you have the funds to qualify is an EXTENSION of your current visa entry for one year based on marriage to a Thai..

There is a difference between a visa which you need to leave the country to get from a Thai embassy or consulate outside of Thailand and the extension which you can get in country at immigration.

to answer the question correctly, we need to know whether you are talking about the Visa for which you must leave the country or the Extension for one year based on marriage to a Thai which you can get at your immigration in Thailand.

That's my first non O visa and I got it Laos, it's still valid for 9 months, I will try the extension at the immigration at the end of its validity. Until then I will just leave the country every 3 months.

where is it best to go from Chonburi? I made my visa in Mukdahan/laos but maybe for the visa stamping I can go to poipet, is there a better choice?

The borders closest to Chonburi are at Chantaburi and Trat provinces The ones at Chantaburi province are used by the Pattaya Visa Run Companies.

Search for Ban Laem

You can do it at any border crossing.

Ban Laem or Ban Pakard would be closer than Poi Pet to Chonburi. The are also not as busy as Poi Pet.

Map showing the crossings is here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?ll=12.36849%2C104.361086&spn=2.58554%2C3.621642&hl=en&msa=0&source=embed&ie=UTF8&mid=zzYcs0PT4--s.kRc-RY3_vayk

thanks for the map, so I guess the best would be ban Laem, anyone knows how to go there by bus? should I go to bkk first?

Where are you ? I see Bang Lamung in your pofile

Then you need to take a bus to Chantaburi and change to other transport to the border.

Doing a visarun with a company is less hassle, leave pattaya 6:30 and get back around 3pm, costs (incl Cambo Visa) around 2XXX THB

woow the news are quickly old, not easy to keep track of the last rules.

Thanks MJCM I used to travel by myself, if it looks too complicated then I will follow your advise and take a company.

I'm in Siracha/Chonburi now, I will go to Chantaburi first then find a bus there to Ban Laem/Daun Lem

I will find a bus to go to Chantaburi but then is it easy to find a bus to go to Phsar Prum or Ban laem?

hummm I'm wondering if I could go to a thai-burmese border instead, my family is living in Ratchaburi, it would be on the way, is there any border near Ratchaburi for a visa stamp?

Ban Phu Nam Ron in Kanchanaburi or Mae Sot in Tak perhaps.

  • Author

Ban Phu Nam Ron in Kanchanaburi is only 100 km from Ratchaburi, could be a good place to stamp my visa.

Is there any issue over there for visa stamp? no problem for burmese visa as well?

No problem to do the crossing at Ban Phu Nam Ron since you have a valid visa for re-entry.

You pay 500 baht for a Myanmar border pass and and 200 baht for transport across no mans land and back again.

thank you very much Ubon Joe, I found few recent post that you already answered concerning Ban Phu Nam Ron, sorry to make you busy.
