BANGKOK: "Bike for Dad" organising committee today began to hand out royal gift sets to a total of 99,000 people who have registered to take part in the cycling event to celebrate His Majesty the King's 88th birthday anniversary.

The handout ceremony was presided over by Supreme Commander Gen Sommai Kaotira at the National Sports Stadium in Pathumwan district.

A large number of participants arrived, some as early as 3 am although registration for queue will officially open at 6 am.

They wanted to be first to receive the gift sets placed on golden bowl in front of the image of His Majesty.

The gift set comprises yellow shirt, pin and wrist band.

Organising committee arranged two days, November 28 and 29, for participants to receive the gift sets in respective to the queue number they are given during the registration today.

Queue numbers 1-25,000 will receive in the morning of today November 28, No 25,001-50,000 to receive in the after noon.

Queue No 50,001-75,000 to receive tomorrow morning, and 75,001-99,999 in the afternoon.

Recipients of the gift sets must bring along their identification cards or driving licences, and official documents registering participation in the “Bike for Dad” event to show to authorities upon getting queue numbers.

The 29-kilometre long “Bike for Dad” will take place across the country simultaneously on December 11 at 3.00 pm.

Sounds like Chiang Mai Immigration Office!

That's the same length as a half marathon in Thailand. Wonder actually how many will be 38 kilometer though.
