PM urges role for agencies probing Rajabhakti Park

BANGKOK: Government Spokesman Major-General Sansern Kaewkamnerd yesterday affirmed that Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha had instructed the Defence Ministry to fully accommodate all related agencies that wished to probe the Rajabhakti Park construction project to ensure transparency and resolve the public's doubts.

Sansern said such a probe must be according to normal justice procedure and must not be pressured by time - or any other factors - which would result in a hasty investigation or obstacles.

"The government and the National Council for Peace and Order have a clear stance that all agencies and organisations in the country must operate with transparency and, if wrongdoing were to be found, the culprits - be they civilians, military officers, policemen or individuals with position - would face the consequence of their actions and there would be no protection. This is to create transparency in Thai society," Sansern said.

Despite the controversy, many public members and tourists visit the park - located in Prachuap Khiri Khan's Hua Hin district - and pay obeisance to the giant statues of famed Thai kings on a daily basis, he said. This showed that people understood the ideology behind the park construction, which was to pay respect to the monarchy institution and to make the place an exciting attraction, he added.

Transparency in Thai society ! What about the wealth of certain people that's completely off limits ?

Oh dear, it's a bit too early on a Sunday morning for this sort of quote.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, the ideology behind the park construction was a vehicle to facilitate corruption. The park's subject matter was chosen to stifle any criticism whatsoever.

The PM has pretty much told them what to do at the end of the first sentence......"to ensure transparency and resolve public doubt".

"resolve public doubt" translated "get your story straight guys"

effortless success

must not be pressured by time
