Using Bkk As Hub For Seasia Travel

Featured Replies

I am planning to use BKK as a hub for visiting Thailand, Singapore and Cambodia.

I will arrive in BKK for 4 days, depart for 5 days in SIN and return to BKK for a few days. Then go to Cambodia for 5 days and then return to BKK for 10 days more in Thailand. That's 3 arrivals in BKK in 3 weeks. Strictly as a tourist.

Any trouble expected with new rules?

Thanks

Thanks, You sound very sure.

Assuming that your nationality allows you to enter Thailand on the visa-exemption basis, what should be the problem? According to your schedule you do not stay for 90 days or more.

So, no problem.

However, for anyone who have used Thailand as a permanent hub for travel in the region, the new rules can mean a lot of trouble. Trvelling in and out all the time, means that a single, double or triple entry tourist visa has little value, and applying for a new one may not be possible depending on travel schedule.

I don't know if this affects many people, but there must be quite a few, mostly resourceful people who may now choose another country as a base. It's a paradox that, in spite of Mr. Thaksin's aspiration to make Thailand the hub of everything possible, and more often impossible, there isn't even a suitable visa catagory for independent professionals, freelancers etc. who work internationally.

I never thought I would be looking for alternatives, but that's what I'm doing right now.
