Three alleged lese majeste offenders escape out of the country

43-wpcf_728x410.jpg

BANGKOK:-- A former army specialist and two former Crime Suppression Division police officers wanted on lese majeste charges are believed to have escaped out of the country.

Spokesman of the National Police Office Pol Maj-Gen Detnarong Sutthicharnbancha told a press conference on Wednesday that Maj-Gen Suchart Prommai, Pol Col Pairote Rojanakachorn and Pol Lt-Col Thammawat Hirunlekha, both attached to the 2nd subdivision of the CSD were believed to have escaped out of the country.

However, a police team had been dispatched to hunt them down by the order of Pol Lt-Gen Thitirath Nongharnpitak, commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau and police were confident that the three fugitives and another army officer, Colonel Kachachart Boondee who was stripped of his army’s rank, would be arrested.

Meanwhile, it was reported that a few more army officers, including an army major-general, were under investigation for alleged involvement in misusing the name of the monarchy for personal gains.

Regarding former Special Branch commissioner, Pol Lt-Gen Roy Ingkhapairote, who was moved to an inactive post at the operations centre of the National Police Office, the spokesman said that no probe team was set up to investigate the former because he was not implicated of any wrongdoing.

CSD commander Pol Maj-Gen Akradej Pimonsri was also transferred for his failure to restrain his men. Whether the two officers will be reinstated or not depends on the national police chief, said the spokesman.
