Turkey says ISIL oil trade accusations are old-style Soviet propaganda

ANKARA: -- Turkey has again denied that it is profiting from the oil trade with ISIL, claiming that the Russian accusations are reminiscent of old-style Soviet propaganda.

In the Turkish capital Ankara President Erdogan repeated his call for Vladimir Putin to resign should the accusations prove to be lies.

And before setting of on a trip to Azerbaijan the the Turkish Prime Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, said Russia is employing old Iron Curtain tactics.

“During the Cold War there was a Soviet propaganda machine. It would generate a new lie every day that they believed themselves and then would expect the world to believe. They were referred to as Pravda lies. One-by-one the Soviet characteristics we thought the Russians had forgotten over the past 20, 25 years since the Cold War, are re-emerging.”

Meanwhile on the sidelines of a European security conference in the Serbian capital Belgrade, the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavasoglu held a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in further efforts to diffuse the tension.

This should be not so dificult to prove or disprove, too many people involved, too much hardware to hide, follow the oil trail...duh.

Yes indeed.

And I recall that at the start of the conflict some 4 or 5 years ago, when the US was doing nothing, cynical people brought up the fact that Syria was a net importer of oil, not a net producer (hence US's reluctance...beside the point now).

Is it even possible that the daesh controlled oil fields can produce $1000 000 oil per day? Assuming they are selling at below market rates (say $40).

There is something odd with this whole daesh oil story.

Too funny:

Turkey's president Tayyip Erdogan says he has proof of Russian involvement in Islamic State oil trade

Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan says he had proof Russia was involved in illegal oil trade with the Islamic State (IS) group in Syria, countering "immoral" Russian allegations that his own family was importing oil from the jihadists.

The Russian defence ministry on Wednesday accused Mr Erdogan and his family of involvement in the illegal oil trade with IS jihadists after Ankara's downing of one of Moscow's warplanes last month which plunged the two countries' relations into a crisis.

"We have the proof in our hands. We will reveal it to the world," Mr Erdogan said in a televised address in Ankara.

I read today that Turkey's oil purchases in the legal market are down by $1million per day down on last years....obviously the Turks are making a big effort with reducing oil because of emissions and Climate Change reasons. However I still wonder why all those thousands of trucks full of oil are heading to Turkey?

IF Turkey isn't buying illegal oil then these trucks will be stopped at the border and sent back to Syria won't they?

Surprisingly, it does not seem that they are turned back. Apparently these oil trucks even have a special dispensation from even stopping at border checkpoints, as eye witnesses say their cars were held up for over an hour so the oil trucks could drive through...which is why they aren't turned back at the border crossings.

Given all these observations and the fact that Mr Erdogan, being a good muslim would never, ever tell a lie; and that I read in the Daily Mail today that actually Mr Erdogan claims that it is actually Russia that is buying the oil in the trucks....he tells us he has the evidence, it is being fabricated as we speak; anyway given all this, it is clear to me that Turkey are buying not a drop oil from ISIS, are not funding the sickening terrorism that killed so many in Paris, and that the estimable Mr Erdogan is being slandered by that beastly man, Vladimir Putin, who is actually a transvestite.

Let's not forget that Syria is also buying and trading ISIS oil. Oil smuggling has been going on in that region for years. Even happens here in Thailand at our borders. Hard to control everything that crosses your border.
