December 5, 201510 yr the education system produces exactly what the Thai government and the Elite want.
December 5, 201510 yr ....reporters often ask common-sense questions.... that is the result when you are not allowed to speak out what you think or ask what you like....If so you risk your freedom and end up in jail. Look over the borders: Burma, China, Vietnam.....North Korea... Do you see similarities...?
December 5, 201510 yr No offense to the academics, but a university education is not a prerequisite to good journalism. There are plenty of amateurs on the Internet, with blogs that run circles around the typical Thai news article. The culture, insitutions, and laws are in opposition. The Nation is not immune from irony.
December 5, 201510 yr Education system ? Just lobotomize any graduate of the 'Thai Education System' and voila! You have a journalist of the caliber that is hired by American and British main-steam media outlets. Edited December 5, 201510 yr by connda
December 5, 201510 yr Personally I think that the so-called profession of journalism has been seriously degraded. Since news has become entertainment the need for investigative journalism has been superseded by 'journalists' who take the government press release and put it into the newspaper without any question at all; 'journalists' who write awful articles about awful publicity seeking celebrities or 'superstars' as they are known as in Thailand; and by ignorant but handsome TV news presenters that present the government's press release in a way that will convince thick people to believe it, despite it being full of logical flaws and idiotic assumptions; and finally by people who manage to include the words 'facebook', 'twitter, 'iPhone6', and 'social media' in every single sentence. I'm not sure that education for journalists is the number one priority for Thailand right now....I'd be happy if my kid could add up and write a sentence or two.
December 5, 201510 yr I think the educational system is producing exactly the kind of journalists the elites desire...deaf, dumb, and blind to any and all abuses of power and systemic corruption throughout the higher echelons of power.
December 5, 201510 yr I'd think it would be pretty easy in Thailand. Just print what the government tells you! Edited December 5, 201510 yr by AZBill
