I have been having a problem with dry mouth lately and recently I have read that using a humidifier at night would help. My question is , where can I buy a humidifier? And if their are any other dry mouth sufferers out there, have you tried using a humidifier?

I guess that kind of joke you have heard often enough.......

Do you really have dry air? Usually in Thailand everything is too wet and adding a humidifier might cause fungus (and than much worse problems).

I bought a humidifier in Germany on ebay and there are small "metal boxes with cable" you put them into water and they cause mist of water rising.....I thing they are some piezo parts which vibrate. They are small and maybe easier to ship in.

I may have 2 humidifier and some of these parts in our other house....terrible dirty and rotten, but could be cleaned.

I had a similar problem and bought one of those ultrasonic piezo type humidifiers. I had to quit using it the 2nd day. It seemed that it vaporized not just the water, but all the dissolved solids in the water. Everything in my place had a thin coat of white film on it after a few hours. And it wasn't dust, it adhered to everything.

Then I bought a genuine medical type vaporizer, but it only lasted a few weeks because the tap water was so corrosive that the metal heating element rusted away in no time.

So I ended up just boiling a pot of water to humidify and when the water boiled away, there was a lot of residue that hadn't boiled away.

If you do buy an humidifier, use distilled water if you can find it. Bottled drinking water is mineralized, so it's going to cause problems, though not nearly as bad as tap water.

Soak a bath-towel or 2 in water, then hang from a drying rack with a small fan blowing on the towel at low speed. Should last most of the night. You may need to put a tray under the towels to catch drip.

Wash and thoroughly dry the towels in sunshine every few days to prevent fungus.

I sometimes get dry mouth but I'm it is intermittent. I'm not sure if from sleeping in the airflow from air con. or perhaps a result of something I ate.

Winters can be extremely dry in any country, especially if you sleep under air conditioning. I was miserable my first winter here, with dry throat and cracked, itchy skin. The humidifier made those problems go away. The small shops that set up in the middle of malls often have them. That is where I got mine. It's also the peizo type and I haven't noticed any significant buildup of mineral dust around it. If that ever becomes a problem, distilled water is available in automotive departments of most supermarkets.
