"We still believe that only a small number of employees was actually actively involved in the manipulation"

WOLFSBURG: -- Volkswagen says a “chain of errors” led to the emissions cheating scandal rather than a one-off mistake, adding that it struggled with deadlines to meet strict conditions on limits in the US when it launched a diesel promotion campaign ten years ago.

By ERIKA KINETZ

SHANGHAI (AP) — The woman called herself Flaming Lee, an English name she picked when she was 10 years old, long before she got into the dirty business of counterfeit goods. Her job as a private investigator sometimes took her to client meetings at Dubai's seven-star Burj Al Arab hotel. Otherwise, she lived in apparent simplicity.

Anand's jab returns to haunt junta
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Critics of the Prayut government started sharing a quote of former prime minister Anand Panyarachun on Facebook again to attack the interim administration.

Anand made the quote during an interview with Matichon in June. The critics, including Thantham Jitsuchon, dug up the quote for sharing again.

"Now, there are efforts to gag the people. People cannot say anything. The society has become a closed one. When the society became a closed society, there is no transparency and good governance has disappeared. There is no sense of responsibility and there are no democratic elements," Anand said in the interview.

"I think we are not trying to find the real causes of conflicts," Anand added.

The quote was shared after dissatisfaction against tight control by the National Council for Peace and Order and the interim government on political opinions was seen growing.

Thantam said in his post that how the real causes of conflicts could be found when the people could not express their opinions.
